3. Prior Problems Corrected by CPO Warranty: Transmission torque converted and radiator replaced caused by defective Valeo radiator (well documented on this forum); rain/light sensor; leakiing trunk lid; air conditioner; alternator; climate control display stuck in night mode; adjusted vehicle height on left side for inordinate tire wear.
Update: My 2003 E500 just turned 69,200 miles and needed Heater Control Valve replaced due to the hot air coming from rear A/C unit.....my CPO warranty covered it. Another thought: Just listing all the problems without indicating the mileage at the failure point seems to paint an inaccurate picture. A lot of vehicles by other luxury vehicle manufacturers have various failures too. Most of my mechanical failures are normal wear & tear items......electrical type items such as the Heater Control Valve and the Rain/Light Sensor seem to be the major reliability issues with the 2003 E vehicles.

2006 E350 CPO, Luxury, 47K ... within one week of purchase I've had the following:

1. Numerous check engine lights (radiator sensor)
2. Balance shaft/gears (parts ordered)
3. Shift problems (replaced the valve body)
4. Sirius cutting out (they're still working this one)
5. CD and Sat volume goes to high by itself (they're still working this one)
6. Alignment out/pulls to right (I think they've realigned it by now)

Despite these problems, the few days I was able to drive the car; it drove great.

Great thread but I would encourage everyone to post this data at True Delta. This is a great tool and would give a more accurate representation of reliability across the board for different year models and classes.

Yes, and very little repairs for all those miles...........looks like the best exception to those of us who have had multiple repair requirements under 100k miles. But the engines on these vehicles appear to be almost bullet proof.

All fixed under warranty, and haven't returned except for the mildew smell. It's out of warranty now, and dealer won't touch it. Any idea how to fix this?
Sounds like your AC problem was addressed in this thread and has a TSB for the problem:

Problems: 05 CDI's

I have 2 05 CDI's. Mine has 116,00. Very few problems. I had a leaking tranny electrical connector and the battery control module update.

My wife's has 82,000. Right upper ball joint( humungus pot hole at high speed).

That's about it. I change the oil ( Mobil 1 ) and filter each 5000 miles and do the BG Flush of the transmissions at 35,000.

That is an average of 20K a year.

Must assume it is a daily driver.

Hope you double that with no issues.

Congratulations!!!! Gives the rest of us hope!!!
