w211 e500 Ecu upgrade/chip

Searching through the threads here and can't find a definitive answer on a chip or ECU upgrade for my '04 e500. I have seen Renntech's extremely over priced ecu flash but not willing to spend $6000 or so for a car I paid $17,000 for. I saw that someone on dragtimes.com had a chip which gave 25hp and 30lbs of tq. but I can't seem to find it again. If you guys know of anything under $1000 that I can gain HP and low 0-60 please let me know, thanks.

P.S. I know adding a big spoiler would ad at least 200hp but just don't like the look..... hahahahahaha

For $6K on a $17K car I would pay for a remote turbo set up, it would annihilate any AMG.

Here's my free advice (possibly worth exactly as much as you paid for it). Having looked at VW and Audi extensively before picking up my E350, I assumed that one could chip or flash the E350. After a lot of reading (and absolutely no experience) I slowly figured out my assumption was wrong.

It just doesn't appear that chipping/flashing MBs is popular for whatever reason. I've seen several explanations, but I won't repeat them because I can't separate the wheat from the chaff on this one.

25 HP / 30 ft-lbs TQ would certainly be nice, but you've already got the 500. Also, you never really know what else may be affected with the chip/flash. From what I can tell I think you're better off leaving it alone.

The big spoiler might be the best HP/TQ improvement you can make... that, or the neon light shining from the undercarriage.

Best of luck.

Supercharge it, trillion times better than a flash.

Kleemann offers a package which includes a supercharger and a ecu tune.

chip really boosts performance on a when coupled with forced induction. with your E500 you may want to consider air flow modification (intake, filters and exhaust). This will increase HP and fuel economy.
