Driving opinion
I liked how the W211 felt more like a sports car. Not in terms of cornering/speed, but more in terms of normal driving conditions and what seemed like a lower center of gravity.
The W212 feels more like an S class. More boaty if that makes sense.
I love how my W211 looked. But the W212 is starting to edge out the W211 in looks.

Interesting
Interesting. The side view of both cars is pretty nice. Great combination of color and wheels. I think the wheels make the W211, enough so that I think it looks nicer than the update.
Now having said that, and just having seen a newish Honda Accord sedan...boy, does the W212 look a lot like a Honda Accord in profile. I think MB would be wise to back off a bit on the drift toward Oriental-car-company-like styling of their sedans. They should leave the Power Rangers look to Japan and Korea.

Wouldn't it be nice to have both.
Speaking for myself, I wish I had the room to properly park (garage) my W211. I would have really thought about keeping it, instead of keeping my great and commendable Malibu (thus going WAY more overbudget when getting my new W212, if I had done that, lol).

MBWorld Fanatic!
w212 is more sharper in your face where the w211 is a classy body... Some lady at the dealership wanted my w211 over a new w212 cause of its body...i told her no sorry unless she wants to give me 20k for it lol

I completely agree. I drove my dad's W212, and the driving position feels higher even though the window sills are higher than the W211. I think having the traditional shifter in the center console for the W2111 adds to the sportier feel as well even though the W212 has paddle shifters. I just feel more refined and stately in the W212 and sporty and badass in the W211. haha

I get what you guys are saying. The 212 is more of an airy-Luxo feel, while the 211 is Sportier yet still "old world" and refined feel. I love both equally I'd say, but I feel the 212's is more appropriate for what I want out of a Benz actually. I like my Benzes (Sedans) stately, Luxurious, in that form of a "sense of occastion". I thought I'd hate the column shifter, but I think it adds to the overall experience (of what I seek from the drive).
The 211's interior is extremely elegant and refined though, sporty or not. It ain't like BMW's sporty interiors, where there's a sense of coldness (E60, for example).
All in all, you can't lose with either!
