Sport, no contest.

We have an 07 350 sport 4 matic, before that an 04 320. The ride, control and enjoyment are superior, the ride is firmer and more confidence inspiring. My wife says it is the best car she has ever owned.

We will never go back to a non-sport. That said, I agree that you must drive both over the same roads, you may not like the additional firmness with the sport.

Good luck

Where I am I have to pay $10.000 to get from a Classic to a Avantgarde with AMG-Sport package. That makes it stand out here at least. And it's necessary since 80% of the taxis are E-classes here...

Picture of basic 'Classic', 'Elegance', 'Avantgarde' & 'Avantgarde w. AMG-Sport package'.

Thats unfortunate that so many people feel that way. There are far too many "wannabe's" in this country. Seems that they are all for looks with no consideration for substance or purpose.

i work near the Park Ave dealer in nyc.
there have been a variety of these babies on the floor for a while.
i actually think i like the front clip of the Lux model better with the
dual fogs rather than the LEDs
that said, i did sit in an E63 (65?) and that specific body work beats both
lux and sport. front LEDs cooler with full horizontal pattern.
in addition the console shifter is a deal-maker for me if they put it in
the sport model. much nicer feel to the interior with that.
not into the whole buick dash thing with wheel mounted shifter.
thats my big gripe with the S too.
i would note that BMW put the console shifter back on the new Seven too.
edit-all my chatter on these cars is cause im thinkin of moving out of a
current ride soon, prolly the A4.

I too had an issue with the column shifter and that was in my 06 ML500. After some period of ownership the shifter became a natural and I appreciated the extra room on the consol. It just takes some getting used to. I believe that the consol shifter is available only in the coupe and I am not certain about the AMG. However the AMG is certainly built to a different price point and they can do lots more with that version.

I have been driving the W212 Sport 350 with AMG wheel package. I am not so thrilled by the look of the 18'' AMG wheels. Although the Sports Sedan's suspension is tuned more for the handling, it still has the option to select between C and S. I prefer the rigid ride with the S, unfortunately it defaults to C every time car is started. The C gives a slight comfort ride. I drove a 1990 miata as well for over a decade which had one of the rigidest suspensions. I feel much safer when I drive a car with a rigid suspension. Handling and Comfort have to be mutually sacrificed to each other. So when it comes to handling, comfort and look they are all personal.

The E350's C and S buttons don't affect the suspension just the transmission setting. The following thread provides a previous discussion of this.

I have the sport and love the look and ride qualities. Not harsh but just firm enough. Can't say enough about the car after 1K. Only complaint is that it defaults to Comfort mode with each shut down. Just a matter of remembering to go to Sport mode but I feel like the government is riding with me.

E350 or E550? If you have a E350 see post #33
