Interesting, yeah it might. I've never been into Verts much personally, but doing away with the roof and tiny back window on the Coupe makes me curious as to how it will turn out.

REALLY sucks M-B is doing a soft-top for the Coupe, in this day and age, especially for a Premium Car brand, you've gotta go hard-top Vert, I know the E-Coupe is really a C, but it's still priced like an E, and BMW's freakin' 3-Series has a hard-top Convertible!

They probably saved several hundred pounds using a soft top and some feel a soft top is still more luxurious than an all metal top ie Bentley.

One good thing is if they used a folding hard top those stupid little extra rear side windows might still be there lol...

Anyone know when the cabrio is due for the US?

MB strategy is that a fourseater should be a softtop, a twoseater a hardtop. They're sticking to it right now.

I prefer a hardtop as well, both for convenience and styling.

I've seen enough in person to know that the car doesn't always give that effect, I find most to be kind of ho-hum, even despite all the lines and styling going on, and off-proportioned. The A5/S5 are great looking cars, some lower models can be a bit bland of course, but with the right make-up, i.e that RS-5, it's a car that is aggressive as well as easy on the eyes, and will look good from every angle IMO.

I've seen some angles on the E-Coupe that make me want to rush out and buy one, but too many (especially when viewing in the real world) don't leave much of an impression on me.
agree. the s5 looks great at dawn and dusk. otherwise it looks OK.

This car is simply exquisite and I hate to say it but imo it blows the E550 coupe away in most every way.

I don't believe MB is doing a 63 version of the coupe but if it does it will be close to 90K and still wouldn't have the lines/looks of the RS5.
you can't really compare the two cars because of the 25% price premium. if audi did release the RS5 in the states, i would imagine merc would offer an AMG version (hopefully with the superior 55 not 63).

The only thing about the Audi design is that USA plates look kinda weird on that big mouth grill. It's obviously made for Euro plates.

Oh, and maybe they could offer a RWD version (just for me ) Or move that motor back even more. Just get that funky push feeling finally gone from the chassis.

p.s., that car is definitely hot!
The new car definitely won't have the push feeling as the new chassis that the A5/S5 are on already have the engine moved back. Also the new RS5 would have the LSD that is available on the S4 and that helped the S4 handle better than the BMW 335i around a track so definitely won't get as much or any push, especially when driving on the street.

The last E550 coupe I saw was about $67k with P2 and apper pkg, so about an $8k diff...if AMG did a 63 version of the E coupe it would be very close to $100k. IF the RS5 comes here and is around $75k it will be a bargin...
