I'd take one in a heartbeat for that price! It's $2.000 less than I had to pay for my E350 CDI...

You don't realise how cheap they really are in America... they are going on sale for around US$215,000 in my country (Australia)

WAIT! You'll be kicking yourself if you don't.

M-B will make sure the new one gives enough of a slap to the last one to keep it competitive with what will be the class leading and amazing F10 M5.

LOL.

Give it some time and these prices will come back down to earth. If I'm not mistaken, the 212 E63 is also supposed to be cheaper than the 211 E63, so $100K is just out there. If anyone has real patience, wait 'till the TTV8 drops THEN work a huge discount off of the "Ohw my gawd, that's soooo 2007-2010" E63.

I'd only move now if you really want a n/a. It'll be the last of the big displacement n/a motors. Otherwise wait. Like K-A says, it'll be much improved performance-wise. Right now (except for the MCT) it's not that radically different than the 2009 version.

By then you'll also have the new F10 M5 to consider.

F10 M5 is going to be out-of-this-world IMO, if the outstanding performance of the M3's and previous M5's are a sign of how well progressively developed the F10 M5 will be, mixed with what's looking to be flawlessly proportioned looks, it'll be something.

What I'm curious of is the Reliability, I don't have much confidence in BMW reliability to begin with, and considering the unique (and not tried & true) placement of the Turbo's, it might turn out to be a bug-maniac.

As well, M-B obviously have some tricks up their sleeve as well with their own TT, as to not let the M5 put the E63 on the "back-burner" after only a year in the spotlight, so it's going to be intense.

I for one am thinking these HP wars have to stop, until how much HP will they deem a regular douche-tool with money who's trying to impress everyone with that giant Mega HP burner under the hood by flooring it at every street corner and neighborhood, is unsafe?

I knew someone would get all butt hurt and mention my poor little crossfire(that'll outrun that brand new E63 ALL day long) in a E63 discussion.

Here, I'll even respond to your response(in advance) about how the crossfire can't beat a 2010 E63..........

That run was made in Las Vegas with a 4050DA a month ago.

People here get very jumpy and defensive over the look of the W212. You know what they say when one isn't truly confident about something....

Just goofing here people, don't jump on me for it!

Yeah, most people here don't quite know that little Crossfire's got a V6 AMG blown motor. With ~600 lbs less weight

With the right mods and a pair of DRs and you can get under 12 easy.

But stock for stock the E63 wins. Stock Crossfires are in the 13s. Stock E63s can do low 12s. Mo from these boards did 12.2 stock with his stock E63.

I might have reliability stats on the new 5er 4-6 months after it launches. The twin-turbo six has been okay EXCEPT for the high-pressure fuel pumps. And those seem most likely to fail, if they're going to, in the first few months of ownership. We have the best data for the 3:

Sweet, I'm actually thinking of getting one about a year or so after it launches, if it follows up on what it looks like it's going to be right now. I'll be checking in for Reports.

I just saw a 212 E63 in the Hertz lot at San Diego. I thought it didn't look too different from the 211. When I first saw it, I knew just what it was, but my reaction was that it's not that much different, just a more angular 211. That would be a cool rental for a couple days.

It's so far out of what my company will cover I didn't even ask.

A lot of times when I see one on the road the overall shape and I dunno what it is, stance/profile, etc. make me automatically think I'm either coming up on a 211 or 204, until I can make out the details, which give off the more more angular/squared lines. From the rear however, I (honestly, no trash talking), get it confused with a Camry's, especially the new F.L Camry's that have an identical design in terms of where the reverse lights are. The biggest giveaway toward what it really is however are always the giant L.E.D's.

12.2 is very nice stock........but I guarantee it won't run that here in vegas with a 4000+DA. There's a modded(intake, tune, headers,TB,etc) E55wagon that runs at the track out here and the best he's ever run is a 12.6(I can't remember his trap). I never ran my Crossfire stock, but I did run it with a SL55 complete intake as my only mod and ran a 12.85@109. Pretty much any AMG that's not a 65 runs low 13's in vegas(at best) when stock. I'm running again this Friday night and next weekend and hope the cooler temps will make me .004 seconds faster so I can officially say I have ran 11's.

Back on topic, I like all AMG cars(ugly or not) for their all around performance and distinctive/comfy interiors. The E-Class has been a good looking and distinctive car for many years and I just don't feel the new 212 design continues that trend. It seems to me that they sublet the exterior design out to Lexus and/or Hyundai. I do however like how the E63 pretty much looks like a "normal" E-Class which makes it a sleeper(and I like sleepers a lot). That's just my two cents............spend them wisely.

You're definitely not alone there.

What sucks about the 212 63 IMO, is unless you're REALLY into the sleeper look, it's not distinctive enough over the base 350, mainly being due to the fact that the base 350 comes with the AMG kit now, which looks identical to normal Joe/Jane untrained eyes, and cool things like the wider track (new inclusion the 211 didn't have) are un-noticeable really. The front, better executed LED's and stuff are cool, but again, stuff that's not gonna really tell you the story aside from a base 350.

With the pre-09 211's, you had an AMG Sport package, which pre F.L looked waaay too close to the E55, identical body kit actually, but still a rarely ordered option (cost lotsa $$), then you had the F.L's that was perfect, the E63 bumper was noticeably different than the base 211's AMG Sport package, and on top of that the AMG Sport package was still very rare for a regular F.L 211 as it still cost a lotta $$ (Pre '09).

Ah well.

Although I miss it since there's really no where else relatively close to L.A anymore, LACR was the WORST. Times there were pathetic, especially non-F.I cars. Then you'd post them on some Message Board and everybody would think you have some snail. I went through a phase back in the day of buying beater Fox Body 5.0's and used to take them there and basically race them 'till they broke. Ahh, the memories.

Yeah that was at Famosa I think. Don't know what the DA was (winter time, tho.) With that DA in Vegas ..... I used to live in Boulder CO and it was 8000 at Bandimere

There's a guy (Oldgixxer) who's run under 12 at Atco in NJ. (Sea level?) at 40 F. He posts on the Absolutely Driven forum. His trap was 118. All stock E63.

Good luck with the better weather next time

That's what I like about the AMG W211s. The new W212 doesn't do it for me, either. Debadged, mine looks like a plain jane E Class. I searched for a 2009 wagon, but couldn't locate one I wanted. Not too many built. The ultimate sleeper, imho.
