wipers don't work on 2004 C240 MB

Need help to diagnose problem. Wiper motor works on wash cycle but not on regular cycles. Can't find schematics. How do I trace problem? I do have a service manual DVD but doesn't give any direction. I need to sell this car for finical reasons and want to make sure all is well with the vehicle.
