This is a standard color for the 2010 G-Class, and both Gargash Motors in Dubai and Emirates Motors in Abu Dhabi already have confirmed production slots for 2010 G-Class in designo platinum magno.

I know it is in german, but that's the new pricelist with some very small images. The 2010 model also gets Ambiente light as aditional extra here in germany.

That's the 2009 model, as production of the 2010 only begins on September 1st, 2009. Also, you'll see in the pictures above the seats are not the new design from the 2010 E-Class which is used in the 2010 G-Class.

i have booked a G55 2010 model as well , from Gargash and it will be from the first production slot, expecting to get it late Nov- early December.


i got same information as others mentioned but allow me to list the full information about the change in specs for G55-2010 :





Modification year 2009-1 brings with it a series of equipment modifications for the G-Class. Seating comfort in particular, has been improved. And the new model nomenclature applied to all Mercedes-Benz model series also affects the G-Class:


Standard equipment

• Improved front seats developed according to the newest ergonomic standards, with improved seating comfort and more lateral support
• Electrical lumbar support
• Rear seats and rear head restraints matching the design of the front seats
• Aux-in connection in the glove compartment (not with media interface)
• Designer key

Optional extras

• Seat Comfort package with improved functionality, premium touch and feel as well as visual aspect, new operating elements from model series W212. In addition, climatised seats with improved ventilation for driver and front passenger.
• Door panelling in vehicles with smooth leather instead of gathered leather, upper door panelling in leather, lower panelling and tailgate panelling in ARTICO man-made leather (does not apply for designo leather)
• Ambient lighting in door side panelling, door panel unit, front and rear footwells and centre console stowage compartment (standard for G 55 AMG)
• Leather-covered instrument panel, black (standard for G 55 AMG)
• Chrome package, consisting of radiator grille with chrome highlights, chrome-framed automatic transmission selector lever, all-round chrome trim on wood cover of seat adjustment switch panel, and chrome rings around front-door loudspeaker grilles. • designo platinum magno (matt paint finish) (051) replaces designo silver metallic (029)
• Leather upholstery, chestnut (SP5) replaces Leather upholstery, cognac (VS6)
• designo single-tone leather, black (ZF7) replaces designo single-tone leather, anthracite (ZH1)
• designo single-tone leather, classic red (ZF5)
• Topstitching in contrasting black for all designo upholstery appointments, designo leather single-tone black has topstitching in contrasting colour "pebble"
• New designo wood trim in piano lacquer, black (ZG2)
• Steering wheel and selector lever in leather/designo wood trim in piano lacquer, black
• New designo stone trim labrador blue pearl. Other components of this optional equipment include the Chrome package and the steering wheel and selector lever in leather/designo wood in black piano lacquer

Deleted equipment

• Interior in grey (previous Codes VS2 and VS4) discontinued, interior equipment and appointments now in black for all upholstery colours
• Upholstery in ARTICO man-made leather (VS5)
• Automatically dimming front-passenger-side exterior mirror is no longer available

Since the Driver Seats were just replaced ... it sounds like they did not go over well

The only change I would pay for, is the new Driver Seat ... I wonder if buying a Close-out, and replacing the Driver Seats, would be worth it?

The new seats come with new electronics including new door adjustment controls, so a simple swap may not be that easy. For example the lumbar support is electronic now rather than the old system which was pneumatic...so the controls are different. Also, these seats are both heated and ventilated, but use a new ventilation system which is supposed to be better than that in the 2009 model.

i was insisting to have the keyless go for my 2010 G55, but the agency confirmed that it wont come

Are the alloys the same as the current 19" AMG wheels?

Wheels are the same as 2009 model (19"), and there is no keyless-go or factory rear entertainment system. AMG does offer a rear entertainment and communication system as part of their AMG Design Studio services (as well as custom interior, glass moonroof, and other modifications), but these are not available for US customers.

I wish they would carbon fiber the roof to lower the center of gravity for the G55. That would be an excellent modification.

The ventilated seats on my 09 G55 are terrible. You barely feel the cool air coming out of the seats.

As for other changes for 2010, I seriously do not see anything that is appealing enough to upgrade from an '09 to a '10 G55. The reason I upgraded from an '08 to an '09 was because of the revised front fascia, new wheels, ventilated seats (which suck), media interface, and alcantara headliner.

However, I am passing by the MB dealer here later today to finalize my SLS order... maybe if i get the same deal I got for upgrading from an 08 to an 09 G55, i'll upgrade from an 09 to a 10 A new color possibly. I like the platinum magno!

Not that I've seen. Someone I know was at the show and asked him to take pictures, but haven't gotten any yet.
