G55 depreciation (in UAE)

Does anyone in the UAE (or maybe neighbouring Gulf countries) have views on the typical annual depreciation that I could expect on a new G55 in the UAE?

The reason I ask is that I'm seriously considering buying the 2010 model, but have been shocked by the depreciation on the C63 that I bought from EMC in Abu Dhabi about 11 months ago. On the C63, it looks as if I've taken a hit of about 35% in the first year. I wouldn't want that to be the case for a G55 as well but maybe I'm being naive?

Your answers might help me to make a decision in terms of buying new vs used. Many thanks in advance.

Expect worse depreciation on the higher end models...

If you input all the depreciation rates into excel by model and term and order rank based on the highest depreciation rates, all the AMG are at the top...

Good luck getting rid of it!

You're probably right. I think I may end up looking for a 2007/2008 model. Seems that the first year's depreciation is the worst and the curve flattens out a little after this.

There is a lot of demand for the G55 in the UAE, unlike most other AMG models which are available new with significant discounts. In general, the resale value for the G55 is also higher than other AMG models in the UAE, but having said that in general the depreciation of high end cars is quite high compared to other countries.

Thanks jimmyg. In hindsight, perhaps my mistake was paying EMC the "sticker price" on the C63. We live and learn.

G55s hold their value better than any MB car. I could easily sell my 09 for about 10% depreciation after close to a year of ownership, which I think is great.

@Hiper

That 10% sounds good and I wish it's the same here in Kuwait. When I was buying my 09 I came across some 08's online in Kuwait that were sold for more than 20% off the initial price. One of them is still for sale and it seems that no one is buying yet cause it's only about 15% off the new price.

If that 10% is true here, I'd trade my 09 for a 2010 model in a heart beat. It does seem to hold it's value better than most but not all 4x4s on the long run though here.
