G37s Killed

driving home from work and a g37s passes me pretty quick. i'm going 5 mph over limit so cruising. four lane highway with no intersections for about a mile.

I accelerate quick behind him and follow. i pass 2 cars on empty lanes and we hit the traffic light. no cars in front and no intersection for next 2 miles as we head uphill. g37s has a nice kit, drop, wheels, exhansut, and all kinds of goodies. sounded pretty sick too! i almost second guessed my e55.

you can imagine what happened. we get to the top of the hill and exchange positive hand gestures. All he said was, "dude! that thing is f****n fast! i thought i could take you but you were gone!" Compliments to him on his ride and we part ways. sorry i had to ruin that guys day.

You used a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

The little G37 traps at 102mph. Put simply, it cannot come close to matching a C55, let alone a W211 E55. For what it's worth, I think they sound obnoxious too.

Well the G37 is a somewhat fast car, but it has obviously nothing on yours. If only it was turbo'd, then that would be a different story.

You guys have to give some credit to Infiniti G37s!
It is a great car for the money, plenty of power and the intrior is on pair with the Germans!I absolutely disagree that the car sounds obnoxious,it has one of the most memorable exhaust notes out there. The VQ Engine is a very good one too!

here's some pics and Vids of my black G.

The G37s have 330hp but they are too heavy-over 3700lbs. Nice looking car though.

yes, the G37 has a nice engine but also has a lot of weight from the extra reinforcement in the doors. it is actually slower than the G35 because of this. it had no chance in hell. a 14 second car vs a 12 second car... let me think about that. also, no turbo/ supercharger kits available for this engine... and even with forced induction, it'd still be a toss up.

There is a TT Kit available for the G37.

And of course he was crazy to even consider trying to race an E55!
But hey if it is a friendly race and he was a cool cat about it after the race, than it's all good!

isn't the g37 engine just a bored out vq35 to 3.7Liters with the head slightly reworked?

in a straight away race the E will probably pull 2-3 car lengths ahead of the G but in a canyon run that E class has no chance against a G37

Challenge. It's still a heavy pig. You're reaching, and there's nothing to grab. G37 isn't a canyon carver, an M3 is.

My G35x would do major damage on the track, shod with R-comps.

It will do much more than 2-3 lengths. Have yet to run a G37, but I have easily put some lengths on a G35. And a W211 E55 is a different league of performance than my 'ol tank, meaning "bye bye" very soon and very hard in a straight line. That being said, the G35 is a fairly competent handler. Had some seat time with one and was impressed. In a tight and curvy road, the bulkier E55 will be a disadvantage despite it's obvious power increase.

The Nissan GTR, which is essentially the G37's big brother, is testament to how technology is enabling heavier cars to handle incredibly well. As of late, Nissan/Infiniti pumps out some great cars, regardless of whatever stigma their stereotypical owners taint them with.

you would be amazed how good of a canyon carver the 37 is....and im not only saying that due to the fact that i have one..i have an S55 and had an audi a4 with the K04 turbo before i got the 37...and im staying on topic with the whole E55 vs g37s topic if you wanted to talk about M3 then compare that to a GTR then we shall see who carves the canyon best

I don't think there is any comparison between the GTR and the G37. They are completely different cars with entirely different engineering philosophies. Maybe the previous "Skyline" models were comparable to each other due to shared bodies and chassis, but these two are totally different beasts that only share an engine block in common.
