For your info the tranny in the Jeep is the AMG 5 speed found in the E55......for a while DCX had trans shift issues....hesitations and early shift/bog issues....since the factory TCM reflash, its a new day.

........The ML63 and the Jeep Cherokee SRT8 are in the same performance range. The Jeep might be slightly faster, but don't count on this race happening. Even if one thinks that the ML63 is faster, the ML63 driver knows that the race can go either way. So, let me hazrad a guess..........the ML63 driver won't show up. I have been on this forum too long and I am certain that this is what will happen. This race will not take place.

Yah, these races never seem to materialize. I wouldn't be interested in a race between the 2 anyways unless they were both 100% stock.

not stock at all!

It seems Stinky's Jeep mentioned here is not near stock. Perhaps after some mods for the ML come out it would be a more reasonable race.

Im down to race, but definitely not @ Irwindale. I went there last week for the first time, and I have to say that the eight mile wasnt too much fun for me. Im down to race you on the freeway anywhere in the OC, or lets do it right and go to a quarter mile track.

BTW... What mods do you have done to the engine?

1/8th or 1/4 it doesnt matter. Being former LE I will not run you on the freeway at 100mph and take the risk of getting my vehicle impounded.......maybe an industrial area with a good stretch. The track will decide how good you are and will prove your times. Look you put out the challenge and I'm accepting.

Hey KOKEE.....I have a 2600rpm stall converter which is almost stock.....Kooks headers and Mopar exhaust.....thats it!!!! The thermostat and opening up the stock air filter box is not going to give me some big gain. Period!!! No ECU mods since DCX has a propriatary program and no one has been able to access it. So I'm up 30hp......that still aint 500hp! Besides, for the Euro aftermarket to come out with headers and catback you guys will have to give them 20k plus to my 3k and it will be a while.

So Blue what were your times???......if you went last week it was cold and humidity was no more than 5%.......that slug aint gonna run any faster as the weather warms up and the humidity starts to rise......and besides Irwindale is only 476ft above sea level......dude the conditions dont get any better! We could go to San Diego at Qualcomm. Palmdale is a waste.....Fontana is another option if the wind isnt blowing and sand blasting your car.

So what were your times at Irwindale and I'll tell you if we should run them or not?

It doesnt matter......I will be at Irwindale next Thursday night ready to hunt down any ML63 that should decide to show up....

Seems to me Sgt Stinky that the challenge was stock. You claim only a 30 hp difference.
Hmmmnn. Lets think.
Stock ML 10.35 lb/hp
Stock SRT8 jeep 10.27 lb/hp
Same class agreed? Almost exact test results for both vehichles posted in the mags.
Stinky's 9.59 lb/hp (and thats if its only 30hp gained)
If you can't win it with that 7% advantage it would make for a sad epitaph for your SRT8. You should be racing a 550 hp ML.

Do you assume we are all dumb because we can afford the ML? Of course the only reason we bought our ML was for the 0-60 time.
Hmmmnn. Lets think.

My Slug ran 8.9@81 MPH
Fontana sounds like a plan.

Seriously....No wonder you didnt want to run 1/8 at Irwindale that is not very impressive.....my hunk of junk spinning the tires runs a consistent 8.3@ 83mph with half a tank of gas and a 250 lb driver. If you ever run up there again...PM me.. I'd like to check out your motor, I might be able to help you improve that time.

Hey we can have a friendly race.......

Kokkeee- I dont think you have a dog in this fight. Blue put out a statement challenging any SRT8 Jeep and I responded. I was going to "upgrade" to the ML6.3 or E63.....however it looks like a few minor mods and the E55 is running in the in the 11's and low 12's. For the right bet I'll reinstall the Jeep stock shorty headers and high flow stock cats........but the result will be the same. Comparing the ML63 to the SRT8 Jeep is like comparing an E55 to a Mustang SVT Cobra........two completly different roles and agendas. Dont believe everything you read in those mags!!!

BTW go to SRT8oc.com.....plenty of videos of STOCK Jeeps breaking into the mid 12's!!!!

A better reaction time will help against the other "driver".....but I hate to tell you this but once you trip the lights the time is just that.....tripping the start then tripping the completion. Granted you need to get to know the vehicle...short of some ECM dyno tune work....things like turning off traction control or pulling the Traction control fuse.....pulling the filter element out or replacing it with a K&N.....a cooler thermostat or engine temp.....tire pressure and your right, practice launching.

I'll check you out next Thursday......At Irwindale I'm sure our vehicles will both stand out like a couple of turds in a punch bowl!

Ok. I'll butt out. I shouldn't express an opinion in a forum
BTW the SRT8 is a great vehicle. The SRT600 sounds even better- 620 hp, 650 ft-lb and 12.1 1/4 mile.

a gemballa 550 is quicker than any ML63... we have one in bulgaria and it demolishes everything, including 996 turbos

You are so mistaken if you even think going from the 55 to 63 is an upgrade.
All over this board, not just this forum knows that the step from 55 to 63 is more like a side-step. With your modded 55 it's definitely a backward step. There is absolutely no sense in you getting a E63 at all if you already have the modded E55 unless your lease is up.

ML63 is a BIG step forward for the M-class, there was never a ML55 in the new body style and the old ML55 is a dog compared with the ML63.

You already had the SRT8, if all you cared is 1/4 mile times, going to the ML63 is again not an upgrade, it's a side step. With your modded SRT8, it's more like a backward step for 1/4mile times.

BUT, if you like everyone here in this forum, care for much more than just 1/4mile times, then going from the SRT8 to the ML63 IS an upgrade.

Performance-wise, stock both cars are pretty even, but the 2 cars are for 2 different market segments. I get the same thing in my Porche board, the Z06 is always being compared with the 997 Turbo, their performance are just about even but again they are for different market segments.

You can be as cocky as you want to in here but believe me when I say no matter what time your SRT8 posted, I am sure there will be at least one modded 4 banger Civic that can beat it cleanly, how's that gonna make you feel?

You are a new member, and we loved to have new ones coming in but we do prefer you to be less offensive.

Cheers mate, and safe driving.
