Navigation Update for the new S Class

I received the disc on Wednesday and shipped it this morning to Cablvr. The install went as advertised. I bought my car new at the end of October 2008, but it only had version 5.0 installed. Seems like it should have at least had 6.0.

Version 5.0 (part BQ6460231) was current at time of initial delivery. You could have requested a goodwill update arguing pre-delivery inspection (PDI) of pre-owned MY07 delivered OCT08 should be equipped with current navigation database otherwise navigation system is not operating as designed. This may have allowed the next version BQ6460233 (current at the time of your delivery) cost free. However, dealer discretion dictates even with CPO. Unlike new vehicle PDI, MBUSA does not require dealer to provide current navigation database for pre-owned vehicles. Nevertheless, dealers usually apply a goodwill update.

My car was delivered new in Oct 08 and it still came with version 5.0. Someone missed something. Perhaps it has to do with the 01/2008 build date.

Somehow I misunderstood it happens. Anyway then yes, your vehicle should have been equipped with BQ6460233 not the older 5.0 version. You would have been entitled to a free upgrade to current version due to dealer’s negligence if you had not updated already. In theory, you are entitled to the next upgrade cost free because of their negligence but this will be a tough nut to crack. You will now need to show the original DVD that delivered with vehicle and the upgrade DVD along with a full cost receipt.

This is the first MB I've purchased that didn't include the disk. I assumed it was because the car comes with the information pre-loaded on the harddrive. Anyway, given I now have the latest version (7.0) I suppose it really doesn't matter.

When I went to install the new 7.0 disk, the command prompted me to accept going from version 5.0 to version 7.0

Is it true that the 7.0 Nav update will not work with a 2007 S550 unless the Telematics (Command system) is updated to the 2008 version?

Yes-- You must have this update done by a dealer. After it is performed you will receive real-time traffic data displayed on the map.

V8.0 NAVTEQ part # U0028-0070-809 works for 2004-2006 S-Classes. I'm happy to duplicate a copy for you. Other members have offered $20. That feels like a solid win all around. PM me if you're interested.

No, aren't you already able to play DVDs (at least when on park) and you already have the bird's view option and the permanent ETA display option?
