I got a MB 6yr/75K for my S550 4Matic within 1 month of purchase for $2790

Call Lisa Lehrbaum at Courtesy Motors (authorized MB dealer in Chico, CA) at 1-800-655-3535. They used to sell MB expended warranties for just a little over 50% off. Maybe they still do?

Ok, to help others purchase cheap MB ELW's, there are 2 ways to directly contact "Lisa":

1) DIRECT LINE: (530) 230-3154. The best times to reach "Lisa" are in the evenings, 5pm-8pm PST. She also has Tuesday's off (as well as one weekend each month), so if she's not there, then call back another day. If she's busy, then call back in a few minutes. DO NOT LEAVE HER VOICEMAILS!!! She receives too many voicemails, and cannot respond to all of them! The best thing to do is to be patient, and call back in a few minutes... or use Option #2 below....

2) E-MAIL: lisal@donotspam.chicocourtesy.com <== REMOVE "donotspam." FROM THE ADDRESS! If you cannot get a hold of her using the telephone, or don't have the time or patience to call, then you can also reach her using e-mail. If you are e-mailing her, please include the following information about your Mercedes-Benz vehicle:

MB ELW YOU'RE INTERESTED IN (ie: 7yr/75K, 7yr/100K, etc)

CAR YEAR
CAR MAKE/MODEL
VIN#
# OF MILES

YOUR FULL NAME
ADDRESS
TELEPHONE NUMBER (so she can call you back)

She will respond to her e-mails as soon as she can.

Funny

Just trying to help vdubpower out. She helped me and saved me about $1300 plus sales tax. I live in NYC her dealership is in California. Never met or spoke to her before, but she seems nice. I also checked with MBUSA and my warranty is legit.

warranty return

I asked her what happens if my car gets totaled or stolen or sold before the warranty is used and she said it can be "returned". And if the dealership says no they are lying. But all it takes is a phone call to her, she is the expert.
Good luck

I'd check out chrysler service contracts. They are cheaper than MB and are great about covering repairs.

And if/when Chrysler goes under before your extended 7yr/100K warranty is up... then what?

1. Seems the government doesn't want Chrysler to go under.
2. The warranty was not affected by the recent bankruptcy, and I don't believe they will be filing again soon.

The MB warranty I bought was not called "mercedes care warranty". The one I got was the Mercedes Extended Limited Warranty (ELW), and the official agreement paperwork comes on official MB-logoed paper stating the seller/dealership's information, the buyer's information, the type of warranty, contract #, and includes paperwork that lists what the terms & conditions of the warranty.

It sounds like your dad MAY have bought warranty from Easy Care, which is a 3rd party warranty company (which MB dealerships also sell as well). I believe Easy Care is cheaper than MB ELW, but there is a difference in coverage (for more details, look at your paperwork).

Well, IMO 7 years/100K miles is a LONG time to gamble on Chrysler. I'm not willing to bet they will still be around in 7 years. And of course the warranty wasn't affected in the short time they were in Chapter 11, but there are other forms of bankruptcy too... ones that WILL affect the warranty (like if the company ceases to exist). It doesn't have to be bankruptcy either... foreign companies can purchase Chrysler as well, and either modify/change the warranty agreements (and what's covered/not covered), or the sale could void all warranties and other contractual obligations (if Chrysler's assets gets sold off piece-by-piece and ceases to exist as an entity).

At any rate, I'm not saying it WILL happen, but I see something happening to Chrysler in the future (within 7 years), but MB still being around and whole. Just my 2 cents...
