Check you state law, or rather local cops attitude towards tinting.
I was just about to pull the trigger and after little research of PA law, especially town cops, I decided not to do it.

Use a good quality ceramic and you won't have any problems.

There was some talk back in the day that ceramic tint is *not* recommended for the W221 for some reason. Have anyone had any negative experience with it (particularly, with the rear windshield)? What brands worked well for you?

It looks a little blurry - not sure if there are any other problems.

Wow, that really sucks! One of my reasons for not ordering the Rear Sunshades was how the rear passengers would try to play with them on the 750 and how much that would distract me. I thought that tint would be less obtrusive; now will have to look into it more carefully. Any particular brand that causes the blur?

I use a film called huperoptik and it works fine. I even had the windshield tinted, can notice the difference in interior temp. No blurring, and hardly noticeable even on the windshield and no loss of radio reception/night vision/distronic etc.

Just some info... there are only 3 authorized Huper Optik installers/dealers in SoCal. The one I used was: Perfect Window Tint, Inc. Owner - Salvador 3071 S. Harbor Blvd Santa Ana, CA 92704 (714) 546-1002 (714) 549-2200 I used them due to price and proximity to my location. You can read more about Huper Optik, and their tint job in THIS THREAD, and THIS POST from THIS THREAD (start around post #23). Song's is another authorized installer/dealer in LA, and I've heard good things about them too (although I did not consider them due to proximity). XLNT Tint in Anaheim is the 3rd authorized dealer (I think), and seems to have come aboard only a couple months ago. When I checked their pricing, I was quoted significantly higher than Perfect Window Tint (but by that time, I already had my tinting done, so it was too late to consider them anyway).

Mine was done at Song's in downtown LA. Very professional shop but not bargain prices.

Thanks to s600ed and chokaay for the great info! I'm actually looking for a place that may charge more but do a better job overall.

Just letting you know, going to ANY Huper Optik authorized installer is NEVER "bargain prices". My cars were done for a bit over $400, and that's CHEAP for Huper Optik. I've seen prices up to $600+. In comparison, other "regular" tint installers charge anywhere from $99-$200.

Here's an old thread
that I started. Good info: Window Tinting
I love the Formula 1 ceramic. Looks awesome and provides great heat reduction.

I have Formula 1 Pinnacle 35% on my S and really like it. Just dark enough to add some class, privacy and to keep the heat out, but light enough to keep from drawing unwanted attention from the police.

i emailed huper and they refered me to xlint tint in anaheim, they want about 500 bucks. , and also classic tint in orange has EWF ceramic for same price
most regular hi end metal tints are like 200 for a car this size. is ceramic a must on these cars what about carbon? we dont need something dark either just maybe 30 or 35 is fine with me
