Addendum...
In addition to sexually oriented materials, this warning also applies to GRAPHICALLY VIOLENT materials, which many consider obscene and profane. From the TOU: "You agree, through your use of the Discussion Forums, that you will not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law."

Out Of Control!!
|
No post on MBWorld is allowed to contain any material or links to material designed to create problems in the computer's operating system. Any thread with links designed to lock up another member's computer will be deleted and the user contacted immediately. We will not hesitate to remove any user who posts material of this nature in the future, as it causes many to lose important, unsaved material, and possibly lead to other complications.
Please do us all a favor and contribute to an enjoyable MBWorld experience for all users. Thanks, Ben

Although we don't like to encourage post whoring, please contain any such postings to the "Tired of whoring" thread in the future. I have merged a bunch of other "whoring" threads into this one thread. This is a time consuming process which I would rather not have to do.
If you would like to communicate with one member, please do so via PM or email rather than starting a thread. Thanks for your cooperation. |

The Off-Topic forum is here for members to discuss non-car topics of general interest. Members are welcome to start threads on any subject (restricted only by Terms of Use), and the forums welcome thoughtful, well-written, academic discourse on same.
However, several topics are controversial, and potentially bring a divisive mood to the forums. The election process last Fall is a good example. Several members have subsequently posted their delight that the forums have resumed a more peaceful environment (overall) once the election ended. It's not that the forums do not want controversial topics to be discussed. It's the WAY the discussion is started and progresses that is the concern. It's OK to start a controversial thread, as long as a polite level of decorum is established at the outset. Inflammatory thread titles and initial posts only incite and bait members to pile in with equally strong language, inevitably leading to abusive written brawls... and a closed thread. In sum, members are advised to take care in how they start a controversial topic, so as to promote logical, thought-provoking and productive conversation and polite debate. To my personal amazement, I've learned that almost any topic can be successfully discussed here if everyone keeps a cool head and thinks before they write, and hope you might agree. Finally, one should start a thread and then let other members contribute. It's fine that one is passionate about a topic. Yet, starting threads that turn into monopolizing diatribes by one member in post after post to the exclusion of others (intentional or otherwise) discourages participation by others, and only paints the thread starter as obsessive. So, feel free to start a thread, but then try to lay back and let it take its course for a while before diving back in. Please. Your comments are welcome.

Effective immediately, threads and posts which reprint the bulk of entire articles from other (often copyrighted) sources will not be allowed at MBWorld. Future posts and threads found in violation may be subject to deletion at staff direction.
This policy is not to discourage discourse on issues of the day. It is intended to emphasize that OT is for YOUR thoughts on issues, not word-for-word pastes from articles authored by professional writers.

Staff strives to continue improving your user experience at MBWorld. A month ago we converted to a new server. Today, we are pleased to announce:
1) an increase in available Avatar size, to 100x100 pixels, 19.5kb max. size 2) a revised standard for Signature dimensions: 200 pixels tall X 700 pixels wide, JPG or GIF, 19.5kb size max. No flash. Animated GIF can only loop 3x. We ask your cooperation in limiting Signatures to this size, including Signatures linked from other sites. Each of these represent an increase in size over the previous standards. If everyone can adhere to these guidelines, we feel confident the community experience at MBWorld will be maximized to everyone's benefit. Thanks.
