OH must be one of them because that's where I last met somebody with one. Or he brought it over from PA I guess. To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

So if NJ has the ban does that mean that you can't buy an AR or an AK there as well?

No, ban on high mags. sorry. You can still but the rifles, just not the high cap mags. Sorry for the confusion.

To clairfy, flash supressers, high cap mags, some hollow points bullets, folding stocks, or a combination and rapid fire, are banned. The actual firearm is not.

Now it makes sense! Well NYC has a ban on everything, a copy of the Federal AWB but with no expiration date.

NOT NYS, just NYC. The rest of the state enjoys semi-autos and CCW permits.

oh thanks. So do you think the AR is the best bet and if so which one. I think I'll pick up that 870 while I'm at it.

870 is the ultimate home protection tool. Shotguns are terrifying to everyone, and it's hard to miss with some good ol' 00 Buck. It will put holes through their ho's too.

The 870 even scares me when I'm firing it. My range only allows slugs to be fired from the shotgun so the sound and the recoil is terrifying even on the other side, don't even want to think how it would feel standing on the business end of it....

It wouldn't feel much. You probably wouldn't even hear it coming. Just lights out. A slug at close range is taking whatever it hits, and everything in an 8 inch radius with it.

8 inches?? The 7.62 makes a basketball size cavity, I think a .72cal(12GA) slug would make an even bigger bullet cavity....

Come to think of it 16 inches diameter sounds about right...

It's expensive because its a pre-ban fully automatic machine gun. You can get a knock-off semiauto AK47 for ~$1,000 but a full auto version will run you around $16,000. That should give you an idea of the markup.

Full auto is only really good for suppressing an entire platoon. Learn to be a good marksman and control your weapon.

I love my AR....

You're not supposed to have the grenade launcher or the bayonet lug either. ....lets just leave it at that.....
