Do you need the cargo capacity or 8-9 passenger capability?

If the usual suspects like Enterprise and Budget don't have what you're looking for, try Prestige in the city.

I need cargo and room for 5. Basically 5 guys going to Killington for a little snow boarding/skiing trip. We want to stay away from vans, and figured a suburban or an expedition XL would be perfect. can fit the gear and yet still have a little "car respect" on the 6hr road trip.

Hertz and Avis both usually rent Suburbans, but I've never tried in this area. Just BE CAREFUL and print everything. I recently purposely rented a "Ford Expedition or Similar" in Orlando, got their and they tried to tell me the Explorer (with 2 rows) was the same. Pulled out the printed sheet with the confirmation and photo of an expedition and they ended up giving me a Tahoe.

You could also try a Chevy dealer. I haven't done this in a while, but some dealerships do rent their own cars and I have rented a Suburban from a Chevy dealer.

Also consider a roof box. You can be very comfortable in a smaller car and fit all your gear up there. Ideal for ski trips.

I asked Enterprise about an SUV for a quick half-day trip around July 4th. They wanted over $100 per day for that Jeep and then they told me I had to pay for 3 days because they were going to be closed for the holiday. Riiight.

the major auto rental companies. the airport is wilkes barre/scranton.

In Britain, a lot of GM and Ford dealers offer rentals as well. Do they do that in America? It could be a way to ensure that you get the model you want.

thanks for all suggestions especially the one calling dealer directly, I found McAfferty Ford dealer who has their own rental unit. Looks like we'll be in an Expedition XL.
