Time to chime in here... My wife owns an R350 and we commute together all winter in it when I can't drive my CLK... I've never been fond of the look but to drive it is another story. It handles Colorado's packed snow/ice roads pretty well and my biggest complaint about the R ( other than it's kinda' Fugly) is it's underpowered. It does have a ton of room although we rarely need it other than to haul the Dog occassionally. I think the 6.3 liter would be nice to have although overkill without some serious big brakes, a suspension drop, and some serious suspension mods to stiffen it up alot as this thing handles yacht-like... All the things I'm sure AMG addressed to make it handle... I'm sure they'll sell 'em to well-to-do families with kids who need people movers and want an MB for status, etc... I also think they will upset some AMG owners by watering down the AMG lineup with a van-wagon-SAV ( Sports Activity Vehicle is the actual class)-looking thingy... At least give MB credit for taking the risk to put the 6.3 in this thing as it will get them some well needed sales... To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

I think it looks good, especially for a station wagon.

Actually I am awake. I've driven a Kleemann C43 and test drove a R63 (almost bought it). There's no contest. The R63 is faster.

I'm assuming your C43 with a SC makes just under 400HP on a really good day. I'd really like to see a dyno chart and some 1/4 mile times. I'm guessing that you don't have those.

For a family of 5 or 6 that needs 4 wheel drive the R63 is a unique vehicle whether you like the looks or not. Until (If) a GL63 comes out this is the ultimate family transportation.

No way to prove it but my money is on an R63 smoking your SC C43.

I love internet racing!

exactly internet racing. actually sc c43 kleemen headers full exhaust probably would make over 400 now with weight difference witch is probably a lump some , a r63 smoking a kleemen c43? i think not my guess is u never even steped foot in a stock c43 let alone a kleemen c43. As fo the ultimate famaly sedan i think that is correct not to crazy about the looks but def the fastest famaly sedan out, well i dont know how itd do against the ML63.

Actually I have stepped foot in a c43. As a matter of fact I put about 35,000 miles on my white C43 with two tone interior. Great car and you're very fortuante to have one. I also live about 30 miles away from Kleemann. I've become good friends with them and they've put their supercharger on my CLK55 and G55. Great kit and company and I'm sure that you're car is awesome.

As a married man with 3 children I find the R63 to be very appealing. My family and I have a home outside of Denver and a second home in the mountains about 2 hours away. It's a beautiful drive and I keep thinking of how much more fun it could be with a 500 HP family hauler.

I have a lot of respect for MB as they're willing to step out of the box and sell products such as the baddest mini-van ever produced. I keep checking ebay and when the price is right I'll be very tempted.

BTW, if you're ever thinking of selling your C43 let me know. It was one of my favorite AMG's.

im not disagreeing with you r63 is the baddest van ever probably will be the most awsome van ever to be built give mb props for doing so, i think i like the ML better though i guess it depends on what your taste is. My c43 wont be for sale for a long time i think its one of those cars ill keep in excelent condition until im older, i do want to get either a c55 or c32 for a daily driver just cant make up my mind on witch one, i would def get a r63 if i was married with kids though, speciallly since the women dont really like to let men have their toys as much when u get married with the r63 she wont even know.

Anyone with a R63 with the 21" option (265/40/21). What brand tires came with the car, and are they still available?
Thanks in advance

I have always liked these R63 AMG I would Renntech it just for the hell of it. Blowing the doors of sports car's in a alternative vehicle such as the R63 is priceless.

When I first saw this car, I though WTF MB. But now I really like it, its functional, looks good, luxurious, everything traditional of MB.

Maybe everyone's just a little hungry - more pics

I get it - we're all jealous we can't afford one - let alone find one. Here are some pics from a dude who tried to sell his on e-bay.
