That's the car I was talking about the 70K+ miles and raced a lot. DOHC motor, 375hp. I occasionally email Kirk with questions. He's very knowledgeable. What service shop does he work for? i may need to have him do some work! My question for Saleen remains unanswered of how he found out its a 6.0 SOHC and not the standard 5.6 like the old ad mentioned.?

Kirk own the shop, which specialize on MB's . He and another mechanic name
Bob works in the shop. His AMG is a beauty, I watched him race last spring. Kirk works on my 2 MB's, he customized my 560 to looks like an AMG except of course the engine, ( will put a 5.6 euro next ). See attached. http://www.mbcoupes.com/euroconversion/conversion.htm ray 88 560 SEC 84 500 SL AMG |

My AMG
Mike , you asked about the paper work on my 560 AMG , and the engine , has the option number 822 , witch is the 325HP engine . I have a break down of the codes if you need to know something . If I cant sell my 500HP S351R , I may have to sell my AMG , too many toys , running out of room . Thanks, DW .....

Ok, that answers my question. Its the factory 5.6L with AMG cams and intake/exhaust manifolds bumping it up the 25hp over factory 300 (in euro form) according to the AMG manual. Selling already? What were you thinking you'd ask for it? This is a very nice car for those that haven't seen it...

My AMG
Ray , the photo is in here already , think its on page 5 or 6 . As for the price , I paid big for it , but got a killer car , sad thing is this , I have 2 killer cars , S351R and my AMG , 1 of them has to go up for sale to get my new home built , Saleen has 2k miles and the AMG has 34K miles . My S351R was over 60k and the AMG Im sure was over 100k . may take offers , but will only sell 1 of them . Got a collection of SC Birds that I may sell 1 of them also , great cars to own , I know I have 4 of them , I love them that much . My AMG has a few rare options 1 of witch is the trip computer and also has the pre heat of engine and seats . I can be reached at Ballman32@aol.com Thanks, DW ........

560 Amg
Saleen,
Saw the picture of your car, it's beautiful. But I am looking for a true 560 AMG, which has a 6.0 liter 32 valves AMG engine, nevertheless your 560 EURO is an excellent car. Thanks for your response. |

My AMG
Ray , that will be a hard one to find , not many of those around . But I do wish you luck on finding one , those are a super car to own and drive Im sure. I do know of a friend who has a 83 AMG SL , white with tan , its a 1 owner car , I did look at it at a show in Auburn , In . Nice , he was asking 40 , but was taking offers also . its no 32 valve , but was only a few that year in the USA , so it is a rare 1 to have . Daniel

Ray, here's one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...e=STRK:MEWA:IT
Not my taste with the chrome and fender trim but somebody's down for $24K so far. Only 14K miles. This is essentially the same as my car, with exception to mileage. I just hit 47K miles yesterday. Same year as mine with same drivetrain conversion. Even Renntech exhuast is same as mine, although my exhaust tips are closer together and don't stick out so far. My speedo has AMG logo and goes to 190mph, AMG bumpers, 17" 3-peice wheels, all chrome blacked out. Meaner looking in my opinion. I'll wait and see what this one goes for, maybe I'll put mine up.

Amg
Eurocoupe,
Thanks for the info. The car is or should I say the engine definitely is a 6.0 . What I am inetrested in is not only the AMG motor but the whole AMG package, just like my mechanics 1987 560 AMG. AMG 6.0 liter motor, bumpers and sideskirts, AMG steering wheel and exhaust, AMG magwheels and AMG suspension and RECARO seats. Can you post a photos of your car ? Thanks. |

I'll try to post some photos soon. The car needs to have some overspray clay-barred off of it but maybe it won't show in the pics. I don't have the Recaro seats, the previous owner didn't buy that option I guess. Just black factory seats, but they are nice, no wear marks. Mine is not a wide-body like Kirk's.

What do you mean by "conversion?" Many U.S.A. cars had mileage on them when they were delivered to AMG NA in Illinois for the conversions. Even many Euro cars had mileage on them before they were converted at AMG Germany. Remember, AMG was just an aftermarket tuner until 1994 when they were bought out by Daimler, they were not involved in the initial factory build of these cars (W126). Only the customers who bought their cars and requested them to be delivered directly to AMG for a buildup were the cars that were "fresh off the showroom floor" with only delivery mileage.

Yes Mike that is true , it just looked to me that he had the parts put on , but now I see after reading it all that it went to AMG for all the goodies , I know alot of people want to do and have a look a like AMG , witch is hard to do , or is it ?? Im not a big fan of the tan interior , I do like the White , all white AMGs . That 83 will make a nice car for someone , DW

Here are a few photos of mine.
I have had it sitting in the garage for a few years and have hardly used it. I have decided to start using it again. Need to get it lowered and put on clear front markers. Last edited by magnuman; 10-19-2004 at 06:17 PM. |
