HELP! 1996 MERCEDES BENZ S320 NOT STARTING AT ALL!

Hi ,
Filled up gas last night and after a while got the check engine light. I went to check the gas cap and it was a bit loose , i tightened it and once i got home removed the battery in order to reset the check engine light. In the morning i replugged in the battery , and now the car doesn't wanna start. I thought the battery might be dead and tried boosting it but no luck. All the lights on the dash are showing and its giving the whistle noise once i turn the key but when i try to start it's not even trying! remote batteries are brand new and unlock/lock the car fine. Give me suggestions please! i checked all fuses and didn't find any blown!

Sounds like a dead battery.

Check that the NEG batt cable is tight.

Check voltage with a multimeter or using CCU screen #23 (press and hold REST for 5-6 secs, toggle screens using AUTO buttons).

Check fuses.
