bringing up an old post

I was backing out of the garage this morning and clipped the edge of the mirror housing on the garage. It broke the passenger side to shiiat!

I called the dealer and got 2 new, both sides, 03+ color coded(painted) mirror housings with the new (OEM) led lights in them all for $289 bucks. At least, I can make a little good out of it

The old style was the exact same price!

Just wanted to pass this info on if anyone wants to upgrade, you can get factory ones reasonable, no bad bulb messages.

How could you make the newer 03-up covers fit on the older 00-02 mirrors? they are not compatible, The newer covers/mirrors are styled slightly different (more pinched in @ the top if you look at them closely you'll see the diff)

I had to get the complete assembly mirrors, electric motors, , shells, etc everything new oem to make the swap work. Replacing just the outter shell will not work it doesn't fit I tried it

It does look 1,000 times better than these Ebay strips.....
Steve Krabbenborg is the man for these upgrades shoot him an email excellent price less than half what you'd pay if you bought all new parts from the dealer...

I just removed one tab form the inside and grinded down the spot light that comes on when you unlock on the new ones. Obviously, the spot light(whats that called) doesn't work because 00-02 doesn't have it.
Also the wiring was different, but it was easy to rewire, if you can do the headlight swap you can do this. Also, you must make sure you get the positive and negative right or the lights won't work.

They slid right over the other frames after the 2 mods I mentioned.
Let me get my camera phone pic out of my phone.

therickers, do your spot lights( the bottom light in the mirror that lights up the ground) work?? When do they come on? Just as you enter the car?

Same mirror. w215 and w220 is the same part # and same mirror shell..
I have one of both, thought about doing the S class but I'm selling it.

Yeah they'll work but Steve K. needs to install a new door module on each side to make it happen...Disregard my other post I didn't see this one 1st Cool ingenuity glad you could get it to work

ive changed all my lights from the very beging when i first got the car, changed the mirrors and no matter what i do i still get check mirror reflector. Ive come to just live with clearing the warning and just pay no atttention to the faster arrow. it blinks faster inside but outside they all blink normal and together

highgross the link quote you posted was almost a year ago pricing. Because I did this a year ago was one of the 1st to buy them from Vertex and allowed my car photos to be on their site I think I paid about 69.00 bucks.. then I saw the prices go up as high as 150.00 .. and now you can find them cheap as I posted 3 links below though Vertex now is still 20 bucks or so higher than average.. A good average price right now is about 35.00 bucks shipped. It sounds like you got them cheaper which is cool ! post the link so we can see the details ..shipping + tax if any etc.
