W220 Facelift almost complete!
Hi all
From my previous thread
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ght=xenon+w220
I have now had the car back and the facelift is almost complete , except that is the front lights.
My original (old style) are xenon and have two plugs on the rear.
The new ones I want to fit (see pic) are bi-xenon from a 2004 car.
The new ones take 3 plugs and my car has only two!
does anyone know of the wiring adapter the will work. I know there was one available but the company shut down. Does anyone have any advice or know where I can get one? or even get them to work correctly. I'm based in the UK
Cheers all

yes they will work....one of the old plugs plugs right in all you need is to hook up two grounds for one of the other plugs which if you do a search u will find it.

My buddy has pretty much the same issue. He has an 2002 CL500. Bought the original 2004 CL bi-xenon headlights. His current headlights take only 2 wires, while the new one takes 3. I'm trying to help him.
What should we do?

I'm not really good with wires or things that aren't included. What are two grounds? And he said do a search. What exactly am I searching for? Then he said "it" plugs into one of the "other plugs". Which one is the other plug? I'm just confused. I need specifics.
I guess I just want to ask like this:
1. His old light has 2 plug inputs
2. His new light has 3 plug inputs
3. I'm guessing the 2 wires already on the current light need to be unplugged and the same wires will just simply plug in the new headlight (correct me if I'm wrong).
4. So what should we do with the input that doesn't have a wire?

ok one plug for grounding, one plug fits right in, and the other is for self leveling, look at the pics here for the DIY

Does he have to get 4 of these little adapter things now?
?
Do we need 10 of these cables?
Then someone wrote, "Required are:
2 x A000 153 08 42
2 x A220 545 46 28
14 x A000 540 38 05
4 x A000 540 39 05"
Where do these parts come in? And are they all genuine Mercedes parts?
So confusing
How about this. Tell me exactly which parts he needs that we don't have (only thing he has is the new headlights). And where we can get the parts?
Then I'm just going to save this link you gave me, https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...rt-number.html and tell the body shop people to do as the thread says. Should I be good then? Should they know what to do with the info in the thread?
I'm sorry, but we really are confused. This is definately not our field. Sorry if we seem stupid and helpless, because in this case, we are.
And should it be the same for a CL?

Are these the adapters we need:
2 high beam plugs (5-pin) A220 545 46 28 (left)
2 auto level plugs (4-pin) A000 153 08 42 (right)
Are the bolded numbers the parts number?
And the adapters, are they available ordering through Mercedes' parts department?
And where do we get the cables?
Are they available through MB?
If so, what is the number for the wires and how many do we need for each side? I'm still not sure, because you said 10. But I'm puzzled because I was reading through that link you gave me, and some guy said these are the wires needed:
14 x A000 540 38 05
4 x A000 540 39 05
That's 18 wires.
And all these parts, are they for each side? Meaning does he only need 4 adapters for both, or 4 adapters for both left and right.
Sorry for being a pain in the ***. We just want to get all the parts we need then have them ready for the guy that's going to install them.
