Really weird climate control problem. HELP!
After work got into the car which had been sitting for an hour or so started it up and temp set to 74 degrees F but wasn't blowing any air. I thought no problem it's normal it will blow air massively in 1-2 min like it usually does.
After 45 min of driving still didn't come on I'm freezing my *** off it's 23'F outside then it suddenly started blowing air like it should. Climate control works fine it's just the blower motor keeps delaying and comes on when it wants to and when it does it works fine...any thoughts?

My car was doing that during the summer. It was the blower motor acting funny. My mechanic played with it hasn't happened since. Sometimes it sounds like a jet when its going out.

Mine had a similar problem, except that after I shut down for about 60 seconds and re-started, the blower came back on. It was a bad blower control unit and blower motor - both replaced under warranty in October.

It may be only the blower control unit - but the tech also found that my blower motor was overheating, and replaced that too.

Some weird looking thing towards the front. I haven't had the problem again. It was before I figured I could do most of the work myself. I'm guessing it was the blower motor.

is that the blower motor regulator aka the control module? (my work in progress) Also can I order this from the parts department separately? It has the part number "A 230 821 02 51"

There is a new updated part number for the blower regulator. The old ones that go bad were made by BEHR, it's now replaced by BOSCH.
Dealer is asking $730 for the motor... yeah right! Further extensive cleaning of my blower motor solved the problem for now and everything is working like it should, but for how long?

Thanks for the reply.
I pulled off the lower dash panel and cleaned off the plug from the controll unit to the motor(which had some corrosion on it).Pluged it back in and the blower motor works fine
Thanks Ray

Better heating in the back of the car
I have a funny problem with the 2004 S600, as the heating is generally working ok. However, the rear of the car gets better "treatment" than the front. It gets the heat first and earlier.
Shortly after the start, while the front blows warm the rear already blows hot, at the same temperature settings. When I switch on REST then it blows hot in the rear and warm in the front (whatever REST button I press).
That would indicate that the front heat exchanger is faulty, but then there are these moments when the front blows super hot. The windscreen heater always blows hot. In normal operation the front temperature is fine too. Would that be if the heat exchanger is bad?
So I figure that there is either an electronic malfunction or it is a feature setting. The first guy with the car had a driver and I can easily imagine that guy instructing the garage: "the rear of the cabin gets heats first".
How can I investigate the cause? How can I fix it?

Is it the same blower motor for heating and for cooling?
How many blower motors? This is because at least "one of the blower motors" works in my car.

I had a similar situation with the rear getting significantly hotter than the fronts, including the symptom of the front actually getting cooler at higher speeds on my 2005 S600. Assuming you've got the rear controls, there is a separate heater core for the front vents (including door pillars) and rear center/floor. I ended up flushing the coolant system and replacing the duo valve and aux heat pump (same assembly, against the firewall under the driver side windshield wiper) and it works like a charm now. Just something to consider looking at. Good luck.
