2001 S430 Wiper Issue

2001 S430 Wiper Issue

Replaced both driver and passenger side wipers with Rainx 28 Latitudes. Drivers side is fine, passenger side hits right side A pillar.

Do I down size to 26 for the passenger side?

I am sure others have experienced this issue?

Any other brand fits better?

Thanks

My last set of replacements were OE from the dealer; however, my dealer now stocks Rain-X Latitudes in sizes suitable for most Benz models. Some were even available in 1/2" sizes, and several were designed for some unique fittings.

another issue, when I install the Rain-X, they did not sit properly on the windshield, so I turned them upside down, and then they sat, however, this is not per Rain-X design. Seems the angle of the arm puts too much pressure on the center of the wiper, and thus causes it to buckle on the upper half. I really meed to find someone who has used Rain-X on their S-Class.

Rain-X does not have 27, nor half inch sizes, I've called them

https://apfco.com/secure/buyrainx/in...438548&pg=cart

As for the installation, only when I attach the blade upside down on the arm, does it sit flat on the windshield

Excessive heat/ac noise

I just purchased a 2001 S430 for my birthday with 90,000 on it , actually traded my 04 Tahoe Z71 with 55,000 on it even. My question though is when you turn the heat on it makes a high pitched whisle type sound. Is something on its way out. Also i,m in ct, does anyone know a mechanic that knows there **** and not out to take me.Its funny just because you drive a machine ,people think you have money, and money to waste. I,m also trying make sure Gino 520 / 20inch rims work on this car.The site my hot Mercedes says yes but some other sites say they are a truck rim.If anyone has any feedback please e mail me dom@francoroofing.com.
Also looken for the perfect bodykit ,affordable . Thanks

Gunline,

Welcome to the forum. The search tool is your friend. With it, you would find posts on fan noise such as Strange noise in driver's footwell. and Really weird climate control problem. HELP!. Searching BenzWorld would get you http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...kes-noise.html as well as http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...location.html; - and there are others on both forums.

You might find http://www.benzworld.org/forums/new-...lp-i-hope.html to be helpful; your questions have little to do with the principal topic of this string. You'll get better answers with the hints in the link.

Can't advise as to your wheels, but you'll find plenty on both the W220 forum and the wheel & tire forum.

And you would expect just what in any other 8 to 9 year old luxury car?

Avoiding high prices for replacement blades for the W220 has been problematic in the past. The OE blades are 27" (690,mm). The newer style blades (actually, Bosch Aero Twin blades) have commanded prices of up to $150 for a pair through dealerships.

I have in the past bought a 28" blade for the driver side, and a 26" blade for the passenger - since 27" blades are hard to find.

Last week I bought a set of TRICO blades, similar in appearance to the Aero Twins - they were awful. They were flimsy and did not make good contact with the glass, leaving unswept areas. When I tried to bend them for better contact, they came apart. The Rain-X blades look sturdier, but I do not like the look of the mount; it is not as nice as the OE.

I came across this site, selling Bosch Aero Twins at a reasonable price: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...ercedes%20Benz. These blades are supposedly the OE blades, packaged differently. The site offers styles for older models as well. Best part: Two blades are significantly less than dealer prices.

Also, the site offers a pair of Bosch Aero Twin blade inserts at a very reasonable price. I also came across a video on replacing the inserts, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE1ITsXohnM.

And, in addition, my dealership has lowered its price to $66 for a blade replacement set.

Unfortunately Auto Parts Warehouse does not sell the Aero Twin inserts that it lists on its site. It does sell the inserts for the older style blades. If you order the Aero Twin insert, you will receive the older style, which are not compatible. See http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ml#post3419344.

I have not found any site selling the 27" (930mm) Aero Twin inserts only.
