I tinted my '00 a medium black, within restriction of state law. Be careful: a solid metallic sheet on the rear window will cost you most of your radio reception. I used metallic tint, but the installer had a W220 template and cut out individual pieces so as not to cover the antenna wiring embedded in the glass.
Also, be extremely careful of water dripping into the doors as it is squeegeed from under the film. It can destroy your door control modules (locks, window operation, etc) and cost you a LOT of money to replace. I don't have any knowledge of NY installers, but whoever does it, be sure they're good.

I bought mine like this and I have a feeling its a little to dark on a black interior. I can sit in the drivers seat and you cant ever see me. As per my 1st pic of me pulling the car out of the showroom floor.

Skylaw...great tips! That must be why my radio gets so much static when I go into a garage (more than it should).
Bought mine with tint already on but on a black car it's a must have mod. Mine looks a little dark however the front windows are a bit lighter and you can see the mirrors just fine. I would have done it exactly the same as the previous (and only other) owner did it. Bukwild...that is really dark....looks great though! |

I'm debating between 70s all around to be legal or 30s all around for the looks. Some people do legal tints in front and darker back, but to me, that does not look too uniform. In addition, NY cops have a tendency to write up tickets for all 4/5 windows individually.
