Number of S55 AMG Vehicles Manufactured for NA Delivery in 2006

Can anyone confirm that only 469 S55 AMG's were manufactured in 2006 for North American delivery. I got that number from an after-market dealer advertising one for sale. However, I could not confirm that number as the MB Owners Hotline claims that as proprietary information and does not give that out. I own a Desert Silver 2006 S55 AMG and was just curious about how many there are out there. In talking to an MB dealer, that number seemed to be realistic since each dealer had to order this car. PS - Based on the original sticker, I stole mine on 3/16/09 and couldn't be happier with the comfort, power and torque. This is a rocket ship and LOVE IT!

I wonder how many of those are still on the road and how many got totaled you don't see that many 04+ for sale, where I live atleast.

umm.. there are PLENTY around the GTA. I can easily say I see atleast 3-4 a week.

I just bought (or as the OP put it, "stole") my '04 last month, and prior to that I had seen two that I recall in the last several years. This is in/around D.C., mostly the Tysons Corner area. There are at least three pretty affluent counties here, not to mention the capital of the free world and it's millions of diplomats (ok, it just seems like millions), and S55s just aren't plentiful here. I have seen a few E55s, one CLK63 a while back, one E63 recently, and just last week saw a CL63/5 (not sure which) up near a MB dealer across the river in MD.

A quick check on Autotrader shows 7 S55s within 500 miles of 22102. I'd say that's a fairly uncommon car. Of course, that's only those for sale, and I'd have a damn hard time parting with mine, so maybe they are all in garages and only come out on dry weekends.

I see M3s all over, new and old, and M5s and M6s are seen on an almost daily basis. I even see more Ferarris, Maseratis, and Bentleys than AMGs, but it could be that they are easier to spot since they aren't in disguise. It could also be that I drive past a Ferrari/Maserati/Lambo dealer twice a day.
