S65/s55 transmission the same?

Just curious are the s55 and s65 transmissions the same? If not what are the differences? To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

For the latest Special Class AMGs the transmissions are different.

S63 has the 7-G transmission.

S65 has the old 5 speed transmission. According to most reports the AMG V-12 with over 700 foot pound is too much for the newer 7-G.

S65 tranny is more beefy

The unrivalled 1000 Nm torque requires a systematically reinforced powertrain on the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG. In the automatic transmission this includes newly developed clutch plates with a high-quality metallic coating and the modified shift and torque converter logic. Redesigned drive shafts, larger hub carriers as well as strengthened steel spring links supplement these measures.
