Wow! Torque!

Wow. I just tried using the manual shift thing on my 99 E320. It really turns the car into a different type of animal. I love the torque at the high rpms. I should have tried this before haha.

I've noticed it responds much quicker when you touch your foot on the pedal. Now for my sprintbooster!

You knew that revving any car to/over its max rpm can damage a car right?

ok guys

constant revving towards the redling will add stress to the rods and tranny clutches (torque convertors) plus it will drink up alot more petrol that way

so basically what i was doing was:

2nd Gear 30 mph @ 4k rpm. I would let off the gas then hit it again like 1/2 down and get a big kick from the torque but I wouldnt shift it before the 6k redline or w.e it is.

Why put all that stress on the E320 when you have a CLS550?

For someone who thinks mb's are the best built cars in the universe, you sure are worried about some serious components just from a little revving.

Hell I rev my ****ty american mustang to 7500 at least 3 times every time I drive it.

Says who? It definately stresses the transmission, no doubt, but it should not break it.

If it did, Mercedes would never have introduced such a feature. I downshift manually and hit it from 1st, 2nd or 3rd all the time.

Like most have said, why did Mercedes give such a feature if it was that damaging as you make it out be?

If you're into driving your cars like weenies then more power to ya. Don't go around spreading false info so everyone else follow suits.

Me too. And when I need to stop really quickly I just throw it in reverse.

These cars are very reliable and capable of a lot more stress than manually shifting will cause. There are even safeguards built in to prevent stupid things like dropping into too low a gear. Drive it however you want to and enjoy it.

nice *** cars man. if only the 190E was a 2.5 evo, then it would be perfect.

I was generalizing that's all besides our euro cars don't rev as high as ur ****ty american mustang (sad to say)

but hey it doesn't hurt to do something wild and adventurous to your car (Just try not to do it more often to keep the repair bills away and the fuel tank heavy)

Besdies haven't you sold your car yet???

Not going insane, it's just going down to the gear so for a brief second while it's dropping down it feels that way. Think of it as when a cat pounces on it's prey. It leans down right before it jumps.

it's really concerning how much BS is in this thread. revving a Mercedes engine past 4000rpm and manual shifting will destroy the car?? well, you guys can all continue driving like 90-yo grandmas
