The following options will become standard equipment at no-additional charge:
-Glass Sunroof (414)
-harman/kardon LOGIC7 Digital Surround Sound System (810)
-6-disc CD Changer (819)
New Packaging
Owing to the new standard equipment listed above, we have further streamlined our packaging. Based on the successful E-Class Premium Package, launched with MY06, two "premium packages" will be offered - P1 and P2 - each of which offers significant value and includes options with proven customer demand.
P1 - E350/E320 BLUETEC: $2390 / E550: $2840 / E63 AMG: $2000
-DVD Navigation
-SIRIUS Satellite Radio
-Hands-Free Communication System

-Power-Rear Window Sunshade (Rear Side-window sunblinds for E350 4MATIC Wagon)
P2 - E350/E320 BLUETEC: $4290 / E550: $4740 / E63 AMG: $3900

-Bi-Xenon low-beam and high-beam headlamps with active curve illumination system
-Keyless Go
-Heated Headlamp Washers
Sport/Luxury Strategy
In addition to the enhancements planned for the upcoming MY07 Facelift, we would like to announce the start of a new E-Class Sport/Luxury product strategy, similar to the successful C-Class strategy. This strategy allows you the flexibility to tailor you inventory to meet growing customer demand for more aggressive and sportier styling. The E350W, E350W4, E550W and E550W4 will adopt a 2-prong approach (Sport and Luxury) while the E320 BLUETEC and E350S4 will remain exclusively Luxury.
The E-Class Sport Sedan will be based on the 333 Sport Package launched late last year. This package, which is no-charge for MY07 Facelift, features key "sport" elements including 18" 10-twin spoke wheels, sport rear bumper with dual exhaust tailpipes, lowered sport suspension, blue-tinted glass, Black-Birdseye Maple Wood, and matte chrome surrounding the gearshift with a white-gauged instrument cluster.
The E-Class Luxury sedan will be similar to the current, stylish model commonly seen today. Key "luxury" features include 17" wheels (for the E350 and E550 models only), an elegant rear bumper, comfort suspension, green-tinted glass, and Burl Walnut Wood complementing the well-dressed interior.
Exterior
The following colors are new:
-Arctic White (650) replaces Alabaster White (960)
-Jade Green (300) replaces Everest Green (816)
Wheels: For MY07, the E350 models will receive a new 7-spoke 17" design. Additionally, the E63 AMG models will receive a new 5-spoke 18" design. Please note: the E320 BLUETEC, E550 Models, and the Sport Package will retain their current wheels.
Also new for MY07 E-Class are Chrome wheels (R86). These wheels will be based on the same 5-spoke 17" design seen on the MY06 E500, and will be available as an option on select Luxury Models only. Please see the Product Highlights section for wheel updates.
Other
E-Class Station Wagon:
In our continuing efforts to streamline our portfolio and provide you with products which support your market requirements, we will offer just a single variant of the E-Class Station Wagon: E350S4. The E350S and E550S4 will no longer be offered for MY07.
Additionally, the Power Tailgate (890) becomes standard equipment.

I think this is exactly what the E needed.

Great packaging! & a good strong marketing program based on what a car like this should come with, and what they have been selling as options.

Since DCX is part owner in Sirius with Ford, it amazes me that they aren't including it in the car with 3 months free service like GM does (since they own XM). I mean, after all, the cars will have better resale value with it in the car, and it will help them make their investment in Sirius pay off for them.

Good packaging, MB!

Bluetec?

I wonder what the engine configuration is? Do you have to pull a little trailer along to add urea to the engine, like Chemlawn? Just happy I have my I6!

I just love anything about Mercedes when they say more standard equipment at no charge. Now they're getting it!!!!!! Finallly.

I like everything except that there won't be an E550 Wagon? Is that right???? BMW doesn't import a 550i wagon either, but I've seen plenty of E500 wagons so they must have sold some?

I think the 2007 M-Class and R-Class are getting the same type of packaging deal all following the 07' S-Class' way of packaging things.

So we now have:

E350 Sport, E550 Sport, E350 4Matic Sport, E550 4Matic Sport, E350 luxury, E320 Luxury and E350 luxury and the E350 Wagon Luxury? With the Sport models costing the same as the luxury models and you'll be able to add the packages of your choice to either? If that is the case then the E is going to get a whole lot more popular! Now if only they 07's base prices are the same as the 06's.

M

In fairness to Mercedes-Benz they do produce the estate car with most, if not all engine options. The 320CDI estate is a much sought after vehicle on the second-hand market and suffers less than any other model regarding depreciation. The E55 estate is a beautiful vehicle that is a credit to the range.

I'm sure. Some U.S. customers would kill for a E320 CDI wagon I bet. Reading your post just reminded me about the E55 Wagon, I guess we in the U.S. aren't getting that anymore either. I think they may need to re-think this decision for the U.S. market.

It has been brilliant having the extra choice. I only know of one person with the 55 estate, and he loves it.

The R-class is built in the US and I wonder how we will fare with that. The R320CDI is already on sale, but it is the only version that does not come with the option of having the panoramic roof???? Why?????

John

Well the R-Class hasn't done so well here, at least not without huge incentives to get it selling. Every month the sales numbers vary dramatically it seems. We're supposed to get the R320 CDI this fall I think.

I've never seen an E55 Wagon in the wild, but there are some U.S. owners on this board.

I Asked MBUSA About a CDI Wagon

Here's yesterday's reply:

"At this time, we will not be offering the E-Class wagon with a CDI engine,
however we will be offering the ML320 CDI beginning in October 2006 as a
2007 model year vehicle.

Your interest in a E-Class Diesel Wagon will be noted.

If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to e-mail us again
or call us at
1-800-FOR-MERCedes (1-800-367-6372)."

What a bunch of sanctimonious jumped up hypocrites. Both the ML280CDI and 320CDI are already available and on sale to the general public. The 320CDI estate has been available since 2003. Still if you behave yourselves, then one day you might be offered it!!!! Unbelievable, now I have calmed down, I'm sure there is a perfectly valid reason why you are not being offered these vehicles?

do you need to be reminded that what is available to you in the UK is not necessarily available in the US?

??? Absolutely

And of course it works both ways. How many threads blame Mercedes-Benz for not offering an option, when that option is available to other countries?

Mercedes-Benz as the manufacturer offer the 320CDI estate.... full stop.
It is down to the importing country to decide what models they want. Not of course Mercedes-Benz.

If no one explains that certain models are available, then some folks tend to think it is simply not produced.

Angry This sucks

I've been planning my trip to Europe to pick up a 550 wagon through European Delivery. Now this changes everything! I've just been waiting for the 2007 details to place the order. But I guess we won't be getting one after all. Oh well, Mercedes has lost me now. This would have been my third MB.

For MY07, the E63 AMG wagon will in fact be offered.

Some questions:

Has the climate control been upgraded to return an active charcoal filter?

Is the new intelligent headlight system included?

All though apparently not part of P1, are ventilated seats available on the the diesel?

Is a heated steering wheel available?

I noticed the cars have Pre-safe, doesn't that require a Distronic-like radar based sensor?

Are grey (ash) interiors still available?

My only comment (as a white car owner) is that Artic White is a very stark white. Albaster had a little yellow. Many whites are now pearls. Unless the color changed, it seems a little like a step backwards.

Climate control does not include an active charcoal filter.

Intelligent headlight system is not available - blame NHTSA not MBUSA. Neither are the flashing brakelamps - again - NHTSA.

Ventilated seats available only on V8s/AMG? Vented seats require leather (factory requirement), and therefore are prohibitively expensive on V6 cars. Historical take rates are near zero. Therefore, they are not offered on V6 models.

Heated steering wheel not available. Again, very low order rates.

Pre-safe does not require a Distronic-like radar based sensor. Only the Advanced Pre-Safe system on the S-Class which is available if Distronic plus is ordered.

Are grey (ash) interiors still available.

Not sure about the white paint - have not seen it.

Our issue is that we prefer the diesel, however we want it fully equiped. Our current car (see signature) has the options except the charcoal filter and heated steering wheel which were unavailable for '05 (either outright or in combination with other options.)

An MB E350 or E320CDI is neither inexpensive nor slow. An equipped V6 can easily top $60-65k. You don't need a 380hp, 5.0 sec 0-60 car to want cooled seats.

Virtually every Japanese and some US cars over $40k have ventilated seats either standard or optional. The full leather on the V6 used to be part of the premium package, and really should be standard. The standard 'leather' is just two narrow swarths down the middle of the front seat.

Generally, since '05 MB has placed their cars behind the competition in features. In my neighborhood, that seems to be reflected in M35x/45s and GS300awd/430s appearing where E-classes once were.

I could not agree more with regard to the features which should be standard on the E-Class. Leather should certainly be one of them! At least the 07 is a bit better equipped with a standard sunroof, 6CD and premium sound. Perhaps your dealer can special order the car for you with leather, vented seats and heated wheel. I have driven a car with the heated wheel and I must say it is not so great.

was the base price announced with the press release?

..or are we TBD on the base price for the e550 ?

re: heated steering wheel - in new york I *love* mine in winter...by contrast, the heated seats scorch me right out of the car unless its below 30 :-)

Thanks Stevec32 for this post. In my upset haste over the lack of E550 Wagon I didn't even properly thank you. I just went to the German Mercedes site and saw they will have the E550 Wagon in Europe. I take it this dealer information is credible - Maybe they haven't completely made up their mind about offering just the 350 wagon. Would somebody tell them to bring it here!

Yeah, I know there will be a E63 wagon, but we need AWD here in the NE. Right now the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 V8 is starting to emerge as an alternate choice. Eh.

Why can't they offer Sport package with the CDI??? I could get the wheels on my own, but would like the lower/sporter suspension settings.

We have been complaining for years about the lack of a 4Matic option. This is not a country specific decision to simply not offer the customer what they want. Mercedes-Benz simply do not manufacture a RHD 4Matic 211 Boy it is frustrating.

The CDI is indeed available with any option that the petrol vehicle has, but as has been repeatedly stated, it is solely down to a decision made by MBUSA not to import it?

Going off on a slight tangent, I complained about the lack of panoramic roof option, for the new 320CDI R-class. I have now been told that it will be available. The power of the pen rules
