Quick Question Regarding the rear license plate light

Is the bulb a 39mm or 42mm?

LOL. nevermind. I found out my answer. It's a 39mm. Found this too. came in handy in regards to all the light bulbs on our cars.

Anyways, I was reading up on a W210 owner who did a 6-LED festoon bulb mod for his license plate and I was wondering if that's capable on our cars. Installing the resisters and all. Sorry, I'm just obsessed with white lighting!

you can read about it here.

Yeah, It's something I'd like to do in the near future but I don't know if I have the patience to do all the buttons and etc. lol I'm tackling all the lighting on the doors, trunk and etc...

So anyone know if it'll work?

I pm'ed the the in the thread and it may work with a resistor ( ~50 ohm 10w) found at your local radio shack.

My license plate light just went out yesterday, so I will probably try it out and let you know how it comes out.

I was actually going to do this this past weekend but My brother needed some money so it was postponed. Yep it is 39mm, Did you buy the bulbs from ebay or your own source? How many leds in the bulb? Lastly take before and after pictures with similar lighting. Good luck. Some people sell bulbs with integrated resistors... I wouldn't trust that much though. I see you saw the other thread in the w210 section.

I just got another pm from him today...he said to try the 50ohm first only on one side, if it doesnt work, try another 50ohm on the other side, and if that doesnt work, try one 100ohm on one side.

I'm not sure. because my light bulb warning light is already on because I removed the third brake light because of my subs and I disabled the corner lights at night. I bought them though and added one incase. They were only $.99 at radioshack for a pack of five.

EDIT: took some pictures with my camera phone just right now since it's dark. Sorry about the quality but it'll do for now.

can't really tell in the pictures but they are really bright and white. Just how I like them. lol

dude, I'm starting to think 39MM is too big. Or they sent me 42mm cause the fitting is soooo tight. Maybe 36mm is the best? but I heard thats small. sooo....
