Black grill - need a second opinion guys

I just finished painting my second grill. I thought it looked mean with the black grill and flat hood badge, but members of my family thought it looked like crap. I didn't photoshop the images, I just took a pic with the stock setup and then another with the black grill and flat badge. Give me your opinion.

I don't like it black either. I thought I might, but I'm glad you did it and not me . I do think the flat badge look good.

Hmmmm black looks really good, but the chrome gives the car a sophisticated look, while the rims do all the bad *** talking.

I like the chrome by a hair.

Did you match the factory black? It doesn't look like it is matching in the sheen of the finish

Nope. Looks like flat dark gunmetal.....ish up close.

Would a metallic black look better?

Newton, what kind of wipers do you have on that thing? Are they aftermarket blades?

I assume they're stock. Mercedes has changed them 4 times since 2000. It still makes a ridiculous amount of noise.

Whatever finish the car is would probably suit the grill better. Is the black color of the car a metallic color? I would think it is a gloss finish, so I would try to match the sheen or otherwords shine of grill to the body of the car. Once you match the two I think it will look much better. Kepp in mind that somethings look better in person than in a picture or on a computer. Then I think it would look like Darth Vader

black is better. gives it a more distinctive look. so far everyone loves my black grill and only 2 people that i know of think otherwise. and the flat hood emblem is a definite.

Stock looks best, even if you glossed up the black you are showing.

So are you going to use a gloss black or clear coat it?

I think it would look better if you matched the sheen of the car as I mentioned before. Also I would add some driving lights in the openings of the front bumper. I think the lights would help. I don't think it would look right with the star and black grill. I think the flat hood badge and black grill work together.

I don't know. I think I'll just drive around with the black grill for a while and see if it grows on me. I can always revert it to stock. Changing the grill and badge requires 5 minutes of my time.

black grill looks good newton. chrome one looks better. why is it that a blacked out grill always looks awesome on a w208 whether it has a matte or shiny finish? it's hit-or-miss with the w220.

I like the black in theory.... But its hard to tell from the picture whether the paint matches... Looks like it needs more of a gloss too it to look right?

Im not crazy about the flat badge.... But I guess Im alone on that.

Has anybody tried the above with WHITE?
