AC dont work, blows warm air.
Hey guys,
its starting to get warm here on the east coast so I turned on my AC today, and finding out that it doesnt freakin work.
I blasted the air on for 45mins, on 59 degrees and the air still came out warm. before last summer ended, i had refrigerant pumped in so i dont think thats the problem.
I tried blasting the hot air for abt 5 mins at 80degrees, then jumped back down to 59 deg. not a drastic difference, just from hot to warm. not even a bit cold!
Anything I can check to see if the AC is working?

If you get an answer let me know. Mine has stopped working too, 2003 C-coupe, 75K miles, haven't used the AC since last fall.
I was going to check the fuses beforebring it in, yet it seems there's a few of us with this problem now.

Maybe you have a gas/refrigerant leak. "Stole" your refrigerant, please say you are joking.

i posed this problem to the dealership during a maintenance and told them the only way for me to make it cool was to put the dials to the extreme heat.. let it sit... then extreme cold and wait until it gets really cold.. then adjust in the middle. i told them that maybe the calibration was off. they replied that since there were no "error codes" that they see no problem that needs fixing
lunatics...
goodluck advans... mine is sporatic... but nothing worth bringing it back to the dealership for IMO

I'll probably test out my A/C tomorrow for the first time since buying the car...I bought it in jan, so havent even turned it on. Does the steppar motor issue affect the A/C in any way? Thanks.

AC problems
Anyone who has the red light on that won't shut off has a stored code in their system and most likely a refrigerant leak. For the 203 chassis that usually is the dryer under the condensor for early models and the high side fitting that is part of the dryer on later models occassionally ther is a leak at the compressor front seal but that is rare. Charging system up with freon and dye then checking for leaks with a ultraviolet lamp is the only true way to fin the leaks...........and in response to the stepper motor issue the noise and distribution of air is the only fault created by the left arm that breaks MB has introduced a beefier unit for replaement that has yet to fail

my red light constantly stays on. doesnt allow me to turn the ac "on" i guess. im guessing that is the issue as welll. so there IS probably a stored code im guessing.

My red light is not on.
I tried this morning and got some cold air by leaving it on all the way to work. Not sure it it wasn't jst blowing cold air from outside, going to try again when its + 19C this afternoon.

Thanks Karl. Yeah, the noise hasnt bothered me too much, I ignore it. I was still able to get heat in the footwells during the winter if I really wanted, just had to go back and forth with the fan to make it blow hard enough towards the bottom, lol..so I'm sure its not gonna be an issue for me this summer....as long as my ac powers up today cuz its like 80!!!

dammit, when I drove my friend home today, he was making fun of me. there was a hottie driving a corolla VE and had her windows rolled up, so my friend was gonna get her attention, and I said to him "she probably cant hear u her windows are up", and my friend kicks me in the ***** with this, "oh right, a corolla has air conditioning but a benz doesnt!"

I just had it recharged the end of last summer, sept 06, it was fine until i bought it in to the dealer because the climatronic button was jammed, they replaced it with a brand new unit, ever since then the AC OFF light stayed on constant.

LOL I was trying to comprehend the manual today...they write it in such a confusing way. I just turned the vents to 64 and full blast, and it was pretty cold. Is that the ac? Do I even touch the AC button?? From what I read in the manual and what advans has said, the red light is no good. Is that right? Can someone try to clear me up?
