Keyless Go STARTING Problem

Has anyone experienced a problem with the keyless go starting?

Lately on occasion when I press the keyless go start, the car won't start on the first try and sometimes not on the second try either. There is a split second sound like the car is going to start, then the rpm shoots up and nothing.

Then days can go by and the car starts just fine.

?

Did you notice any difference when you used the key versus keyless go???

Today I tried to start it a few times with the keyless go after I washed the car, finally put the key in and it started right up, after that, no issues with keyless go the rest of the day. What a pain in the ass, not sure if the car will start or not.

i cant say 100% one ay or another..i have had so many issues with dead battery stuff, keyless work/not work..so cant say..just alot of little crap, that hopefully will be resolved. I know i have always been able to start car with key. i find the keyles pointless now wish it wasnt there, as i have mod4car roof moduel whvih i need key/remote for..and i would NEVER trust my keyless to wrk 24/7..so i always have my key.

Angry Keyless Go

I have a 2003 500 SL and have the same problem. Mercedes has kept the car in their service facility for days on end and can not isolate the problem. They replaced the shift/starter at my expense and it did not correct the problem, they refunded my parts cost but NOT the labor. They have been very courteous, given me a loaner vehicle, etc.; however, I still think I got shafted for the labor (VERY EXPENSIVE). If any facility ever finds the solution I would appreciate an update. Thanks.

Keyless Go

I have no malfunction messages and Mercedes has tried to resolve the problem but given up. I'll pass on the information about the pump and taillight housing. My auto is a daily driver and as soon as possible it's a Lexus for this old fat boy. Thanks for the info.

Mercedes told me the first thing they check is the pump and tail light for corrosion, none was apparent on my vehicle. I like the shop (Riverside Motors, Little Rock, AR) and I'll live with the sporatic Keyless Go; however, for the last week it has started the first time every time. Why????? Only the Shadow knows.

Mechanic

I talked to a mechanic yesterday, he told me from what I described it is a simple fix, oil/grease the fly wheel and it will be fixed.

As soon as I told him that I see the rpm spike, he said that's a simple fix, I will let you know if it works. He has been a very good help to me and I have no reason to doubt himm

My Dealership gave up after days of fruitless attempts to isolate the problem. Only the Shadow knows why; however, the vehicle has "cured itself". I do not doubt that the problem will reoccur but for now there's nothing I can do but wait and see. I appreciate all of the responses. Happy Trails.
