2003 SL 500 rear bumper question

Car was parked while attending a charity event last night and noticed this morning that the left side of the bumper had a crack. Looks like some idiot ploughed into my car while trying to park behind me. Of course they were gone by the time I returned to my car. Insurance will cover it but was wondering if I should take this opportunity to get a newer model year sport rear bumper if that is an option. Thanks in advance. Take the opportunity to upgrade the rear bumper.
Get the SL63 one with the diffuser if you can.

Thanks. That is quite the radical look but will involve having to go to quad exhausts too. Will see what insurance is willing to cover.

Can't wait to hear what your insurance company says they will give you for repairing your old bumper vs replacement. Keep us posted and good luck. If you can upgrade, do it!

Insurance guy inspected car this morning and authorized new bumper replacement and paint. Already had my choice auto body shop order the oem MB bumper. No wiggle room there - MB parts is not permitted to replace with anything other than what is listed under my vin. Bumper should be here tomorrow, so Monday next week I will drop the car off. Is it hard to match designo silver paint? Insurance guy thought it would be so did not want their auto xpress shop to do it. Thanks

why take to the dealer? he only out sources it to a body shop anyway. deal directly with the same shop or a good reputable 1 and get what you want its your car and your money!

Car goes to my body shop. Insurance guy ordered the replacement bumper from MB with my vin so that's where there is no wriggle room.

No problem. I guess I should have clarified my description of the process too. Happy Halloween to all.
