you don't say anything about your dealers. with such a wide range of cars you are considering ( what about audi?) i would definitely consider which dealer could give me the best service and would value my repeat business. also keep in mind that the way this administration is set to impact the domestic auto market via epa, carbon tax, etc., you probably seeing the demise of performance cars within the next few years.

Panamera sounds great but you have to wait and you need a car now I assume. Porsche 911 Turbo: top notch but space? convenience? I'd suggest you to get a Porsche Cayenne Turbo or Turbo S and . I have a Turbo S and I can tell you without a matter of a doubt that it's my favorite car among all the cars I've owned, test drove and rented. It will sounds a bit weird but I prefer it over my Audi R8 bc it's more convenient and the torque is phenomenal. Plus, I have R-Tronic in my R8: bit of pain in the neck. If I were you, I'd write down what I enjoy in a car: space? convenience? torque? high rev? low? high? 2 door? 4 door? comfort? and narrow it down from there. Do you have kids? Do you have people with you in the car often? When you shop, do you need lots of space? etc ... Hope all this helps.

I know, I miss it and this is f u cking crazy, but I was even thinking about getting another!!
I can't think of any other car that has all it had... maybe the Ferrari California (but no potential for more HP really)... and the Nissan GTR is close but not everything the SL had. The only reason its gone is because of the tranny problems (the lease was total crap though, so thats a benefit of giving it back). I put the wheels into my storage - they wouldn't fit an E-class though... I'm close to choosing the GTR because of the HP mod potential and its electronics inside for nav, traffic, and stuff are up to date.

I'm curious what you thought of your e46 M3 and your S2000. Depending on the answer, what about a 2010 Porsche GT3?

They were too slow...
I had the E46 M3 for about 6 months but barely drove it because at the same time I also had the SL55 and the King Ranch. I traded the E46 M3 back then on the Jeep SRT8 which I liked better than the M3, as it was faster and had more electronic luxuries inside. My E46 M3 was my first higher end sports car after my 300ZX's; I liked it and it was nice, but the slowness got to me. The S2000 was OK for 1-2 months, but was sold off privately as it was too slow and tooooooooo small for me. I drool over the GT3 and GT3 RS at my local dealership at night when I pass them though. They look amazing but I'm afraid I wouldn't be happy with how fast they are plus the interior electronics. They would look sick in my parking garage though and driving on the street! So if I was rich enough to be able to throw money away, I would definitely get one; as long as I had something in the very fast, sporty but touring category too. To me there are like 3 different categories for cars. Ultra Sport (no electronic niceties needed - GT3, ZR1) FAST Sport with Luxuries (SL55, SL63, GTR, Ferrari California, Gallardo, etc) Cruiser Sport (Cayenne Turbo, Panamera, S63) I like cars that are easily modified to get more power as I get used to them after a while. Merc 63 engines don't have that trait, however. ![]() I could do all 3, but not going to throw cash away like that -- we are in a bad economy after all

In any event, I would try to get a good test drive out of all my options to narrow it down... You have a enviable dilemma on your hands.. Enjoy... Last edited by Yardspeed; 07-21-2009 at 01:18 PM. |

Is the pano roof really that cool? I am about to buy a SL63 with premium and performance package, distronic but no pano roof. I really wanted it but not too many SL63 out there with performance pack.

Nobody has mentioned the Gallardo. Exotic looks. Fast. Handles. Reliable. Great car, and on the used market, they are a buy.
