Marcus, it looks incredible. I contacted Tirerack yesterday about a similar setup, but with PS2s. Their recommendation is 9X245/35 and 10.5X285/30. What do you think?
By the way, you are spot on about not lowering it.

JR,

I run Pirelli PZeros with the same size up front but a 305/25/20 in the rear... I was able to cut a 1.85 60' at the track with these tires (not lowering the pressure, either) and go through the lights with an 11.50 @ 121. I am very happy with them.

I have had bad experiences with PS2s, although I may have just been unlucky.

M,

How do you like the Pzero's in the road noise department? My car came with Re050d; they are driving me crazy!!

sorry if this is a bit OT.

Pete.

Precision, I would venture to say that if you have made it 7000 miles on those tires, then you are definitely not enjoying the car to it's true potential
You are new here, I see. Welcome, and you should join us during one of our meets sometime. I hear we host some pretty cool meets.

Your right! i haven't quite gotten the chance to enjoy the car... (working alot).... but besides that I've only had the car for 3 weeks now and i would like to get all little annoying bugs out of it before i start beating on it.

1) front sinks like like 3/4" within 4/5 hours of driving it (sometimes).
2) This oil consumption has to go !!! or the car will.
3) It has a vibration that starts at about 80mph and just gets worse with speed.
4) and these ****ing loud tires !

I am extremely picky with my vehicles .

the reason i have put so many miles on it in so little time is because I bought the car from CA and decided to take the scenic route back home...

I would love to meet up!!! I assume you guys would post the meet here ??

Pete.

congrats on your SL65, I have the same and just had new rear tires put on and lowered. every i choose to drive the SL in the morning, i feel like i'm betraying the 911 Turbo...really likin' the luxury and the sheer power combo, combined with the droptop!

Marcus, I don't think I ever officially posted that I like the wheels, and a couple of my clients who just browse this site said that you have a gorgeous car too.
Props given to where props are due!

any vibration with this wheels?

already have 2 set of 20" wheels and probably will get the 18x8.5, can a wider tire can be installed on this wheels(recommended tire size 255/40-18).

after searching on this forum a SL with those 18" wheels will not look good.

Alexbenz,

No, the car doesn't need more of a drop. First off, I think a car looks stupid and ghetto with too much of a drop - I'm not from SoCal where you have to put 20s on everything with wheels and have to have the bumper rubbing the pavement . I drive this car daily in the summer through a real metropolitan city so there has to be some sanity when it comes to how I set it up.

Second, with people in the car rolling on the highway the car sits perfect... about a 1/4" lower than it is in the picture.

-m
+100 on that. Your car is tops, I know you are happy with the results. When I got my Vossen 083 20's a lot of people were saying a drop was needed, glad I did not do it. Drive and love it!
