You will be looking at a price tag upwards of 60K. Not counting your Kleemann performance package. Long road ahead of you...

In Europe, the conversion package to Black Series is priced at approx. 25.000 that is around 36.000 $ . Might be cheaper in US ? Sounds crazy, but I bet it would look fantastic !
Check on Głckel.com

What is Głckel.com? Could not find the website. I was trying to find the cheapest source for OEM MB parts. What kind of suspension would I need to go with is what I am considering. The paint I can get done for a very minimal cost and labor will be free.

Try Goeckel.de, that will work. It's a german site. They seem to have a few bodykits and more of that stuff..

I know Gockel has a complete conversion kit for the SL65 BS. I'd like to know how much it costs.
A few companies make SL63 conversion kits for 03-07 R230 Does anyone know the price of these conversion kits? Kicherer SL63 kit for R230 03-07 - $? Carlsson SL63 kit for R230 03-07 - $? Piecha Design SL63 kit for R230 03-07 - $? Gockel SL65 Black Series conversion kit for 03-07 - $? |

This is a very interesting topic.
This is my first post. I live in West London, UK. In the next few days/week, I am debating on whether to buy either the SL55 AMG or SL600 Bi-Turbo. Once purchased, my intentions of converting the car into SL65 AMG Black Series is exactly the same as yours. I spoke to a well established International Bodykit designer based in Norfolk and had explained my ambitions. His response was highly positive. He mentions that he would draw several design before his team manually designs the aero parts. There are no commcerically available aerokits to make an SL Class into the Black Series. However there was some things I needed to be aware of before I consider this project. a) Accuracy of the finished product - I was briefed that the finished article would slightly differ to that of the SL65 Black Series. A professional designer can be liable to a lawsuit if any attempts of an original product is cloned especially on the exterior side of a vehicle. Seeing this designer designs Formula 1 parts for McLaren Mercedes it would not be in his best interests in ruining this business relationship. Seeing I find the previous double-headlights far attractive than the ones featured on the SL65 Black Series, I would retain the current headlights. b) Price - This all depends on your budget. I have been quoted up to £20,000 (includes mechnical motorised spoiler fitting, OZ forged Alloys wheels - 2 x 19" and 2 x 20", Interior conversion entire exterior parts + respray) - however my budget would be £10,000. £10,000 includes semi-clone, spoiler will be fixed, interior will be unchanged. The Black Series Alloys are made by OZ, so you could always get into touch with them. Mercedes Benz will refuse to source your ability in buying the SL65 Black Alloy Wheels unless you buy the Car itself which could set you back a cool quarter million quid. c) SL55 or SL600 - For those who are looking to buy a SL55 (V8) or SL600 (V12), choose carefully and wisely which is the car for you. If your intentions are to make a huge profit on the car, it would make better sense to purchase the SL600 (V12) Bi-Turbo seeing its performance is a huge potential to be on par with performance of the Black Series. Also when you sell the SL600, potential sellers would find it highly appealing to pay an outrageous price for a clone that has a higher engine performance than a V8 M113 AMG Engine on the SL55. Its up to you. SL55's are so cheap, and SL600's are several grand pricier. My first choice is the SL600 Bi-Turbo. I have been given an idea how much I could sell the car on for. It all depends on the mileage, and condition of the car. Just make sure you buy an SL CLass that does not have any Category C or D damage, else you will have a horrible problem making a huge profit. A good quality SL600 cost between 24-29k. Converting it, or if your lucky- to 100% clone the car could rake in anything over £50,000. Last edited by mramo; 10-28-2009 at 05:54 PM. |
