Test drove the black today

Have been in contact with my dealer over the last couple of days on trying to get some reasonable numbers on the SL65BS. While Mercedes Finance were working away, I stopped by and took it for a drive. My first impressions were that I wasn't going to like it, it looks big, too low, and too wide.

I expected the exhaust to be loud...very loud. However, when I started it up it was quieter than my SL63. Throughout the drive I did not exceed 5000rpms but the exhaust was not very impressive. The suspension is very stiff and low. You can feel every bump in the road and have to take extra precautions when going through intersections with drain gutters. It even scraped once or twice. What I enjoyed the most was there was almost no body roll and no active suspension. It is very very raw and brutal.

The seats remind me of my Ferrari seats, and MB even took a cue from them and added some stitching to the seats. On top of the carbon fiber filled cabin, you can see the carbon fiber under the hood as you look out the windshield.

Only two dislikes:
1. The silly AMG sticker on the front
2. The steering wheel was off by about half a centimeter to the right. It bugged the crap out of me. Basically, going straight on the freeway the steering wheel was turning to the right.

Maybe I'll have this in the garage next week

Probably needs a proper alignment then. Didn't it pull to a side?

I would be willing to bet you that car was used as a press car or an event car.

The only place I have seen that silly sticker has been on pictures from magazines taken some event they had in California when they launched the cars.

That would also explain why the alignment is out on the car.

I hope they are offering you a significant discount. There are a bunch of these cars around right now.

I didn't push the car as there was quite a bit of traffic. It turned a lot of heads though! It didn't pull to a side, the steering wheel was just off.

Yes, and the car has 2300 miles on it. They have discounted it to $290,000.

2300 miles is A LOT! Where the hell could they have driven the car? That's like going across the country..

Those cars were run back and forth between San Fran and Laguna Seca for some big event they had.

I bet you could get a new one for close to 290 if you are really a buyer.

Send me a PM if you are interested.

I wouldn't buy it for 290K when its already used and it has issues to begin with. Best to do with this is to either negotiate a better price or buy it 6 months to a year from now.

This sounds like the best option. They still have an SLR Roadster that they got almost 6 months ago and are still asking $520,000 for it. I'm actually surprised they got a Black too.

I just find it odd that a 50 year old man with this kind of car collection and a potential SL BS buyer spelled centimeter, CENTER METER. Even more interesting is the fact that he has ignored my pointing it out....makes me wonder....

Because, to be honest, I'd rather not have people know what city I live in, because then they start asking to meet up for a cup a joe and do roll-ons.

No need, just call Tom - (805) 682-2000. I told him he may be expecting a call.

Hmmm no, lets review your shall we?? You pm'd me back gushing "Ohh yes I live in SB too" you never had to tell me thatyou could've easily said "SB Autogroup was your fav dealership, & you lived elsewhere & left your privacy intact" but you didn't do that did youyou proceeded to tell me your wknd plans w/family for next few wks blahblah selling F-car blahblah, yes I can see how your private life is so hard to keep private w/lies unneeded info falling outt've your slack jaw so readily LoL...

Spare us the high n' mighty routine

yeah pull this leg it plays jingle bells pal, you haven't been honest since you entered our forum, how convenient selling the F-car this wknd

What is Tom @ SB autogroup going to tell us? Some 16 yr old douche or worse 50 yr old waterhead who spells centimeter, "CENTER METER" came down & took pix of the SL Black

Wait.....
then why did you post this pic when you took delivery of ////your//// SL63??

Or this video you posted ? At 55 secs it clearly shows a familiar spot in SB not to mention the same dealer plates.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7yuo6JDK7Y

Dude - Give it up or post some pics with a 50 year old dude in the trunk of a 612 Scag holding the SB Press with a fat J hangin outta his mouf - well maybe not that last part but either way it'll be pure comedy.
And you never said who took that photo of you in the SL BS....
