Buying SLK tomorrow, your feedback please
I found this car at my local dealer, car in very very good condition, took it to my local ford dealer for a full inspection, everyhting turned out with green lights, no problems at all...just a weak battery.
asking price was 16.900...i talked them down to $14.400 SLK 230, 73k miles, black on black, with heated seats. Car has no rust at all...brilliant condition, just the front bumper has a tiny crack, easy to fix.... car also comes with 1000/one month warranty...or more if I want to. test drove it, it drives very very smooth, everyhting works, no noises nothing...top opens smoothly...windows work smooth also the side power mirriors...seats are in good condition, just a bit fading on the side of one seat. the got me first an interest rate of 11% because the car is an 2001, i was not satisfied with that, considering my credit is excellent... they called me tonight with an rate of 6.9 for 55 months... what do you guys think? here is the link http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ice=&cardist=4 |

Looks good, go for it. See if you can get an extended warranty on it unless you are good at fixing stuff yourself.

my .02
i hate to rain on your parade but you are asking for opinions. im in the process of searching for my dream 320. if this car is what you want then please pay cash. a toy should never be financed no matter the cost. if its above your means then save for it. i have been saving for 4 yrs to buy a 320 when and if i find 1 then any repairs or incidentals wont kill me.
having said all that i beleive the mileage is a little high for that price. also a certified inspection from a benz dealer or indy will better determine the condition as the ford dealer may not know the small details for a thorough inspection |

Dreamer,
thanks for your opinion, and no biggie about your comment haha...thats why i asked for opinions what people thoughts are. I agree with you on one respect, if you have the passion and the time and money to safe up to pay Cash, I would have done it too. But I choose the other way (like alot of people) As far the price goes, I talked to many people and my best friend is the business development manager of mercedes benz in south CA. They told me,the price I paid for was a good deal. CarFax clean, car is in very good condition, was mainly driven around 7.000 miles a year, which is great. And the KBB is around 17-18K, with 73K miles. And got it for $14.400. I tried 13K, but they wouldn't bite! I went to my local ford dealer, for the reason, the rest of my family is a member there for 20 years who keep leasing there and I got the full inspection for free. And not one single issue could they find...just the fact the battery was getting bad and air filter needed to be changed. This is what they checked : Brake System - lines, hoses Transmission Engine Cooling -hoses clamps exhaust for leaks and damages shocks and struts suspension radiator I went for it...even though I went with 60 months. I am sure I will pay it off within 36 months. But I agree,if you have the cash or have the time and all to safe up.Pay cash. But its like a dream to me now, owning my ver first Mercdes Benz and my dream car SLK 230. I will take care of it very well and hope to own and keep it "forever" |

Dreamer,
thank you very much. I was a member here for a while now long before I got my SLK and I always admired this car, slk 230 or 320 - same thing.... I am thrilled I have it. I am sure with 13k cash, they probabaly would have said "sure" Something else real quick thats been on my mind all day. I bought the car saturday right, and I got this 1 month/100 mile warranty and also into the waranty paper they wrote 3 things they were gonna fix for me. Now when I left the lot with the car and with some of the copies,i signed like the loan papers etc... one I got home I notice I did not receive a copy of the warranty paper they wrote out for me. So tomorrow "monday" I will go there and ask for it... I am now thinking, I personally, do not have any proof I have this "warranty" one month-1000miles. Although my girlfriend was present when it was written down...in case they'll turn their back and pretend like, that never happened. |
