I like your rims. As for us here in the US, I do no know of any laws concerning what size wheels you put on your car. I went from 15" to 16" on my SL. Anyways, I don't think there are laws. Please tell me if there are--if anyone knows. As for your rims, I like them. To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

Thanks for the compliments about rims!!!

I think you can fit 16" on your SL but you have to see on your document, there are all possible combination...i see here SL with 16" and if i see it it's legal because here law is very *******!!
My uncle lives in US and told me that there's no limit for wheels diameter..in fact i always see in internet american cars with incredible rims......but here in Italy is very unusual to see 19" or 20" rims.

Haha. I've been to Italy and one of my many activies there was to find Mercedes cars. I noticed one thing. Unless it was an S class, every other Mercedes I saw there had a manual transmission. One thing I didn't notice is that they had stock rims. I think it is odd since Italy produces most of the world's best cars (this is totally my opion)--Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani. Hmm. Anyways, I loved Italy. It's truely a beautiful country and the Italians have a great culture.

Sorry. I slightly went off topic.

Yes, in all Europe the manual transmission is preferred..but now the auto-transmission is coming also with many SUV like X5 and ML. Here american cars like Corvette C5 (i like it!!!) have auto speed trans.
In Italy people don't change stock rims..only car-lovers..
they are expensive and sometimes stock rims are better than little custom low-price rims.....
I think Mercedes stock rims are good and sober design.
I changed them because i want 17" rims.

Thanks for all compliments about Italy and Italians...
Here to have a Ferrari or Porsche is not easy..not for the price but for the thieves..
Tomorrow i'm going to Montecarlo and there there are good cars..my uncle (the american) have a 996 with 19" rims BBS chromed...the best rims i ever seen. But only there is permissed.
In France they haven't the same Italian good taste...

That's true also in my country...in fact I think in all Europe (CEE), In the documentation of your car, there are writed the allowed modifications you can do to your car without having to send the car to a governement garaje to re-aprove it (we call it homologation)

I think you are allowed to make any modification you want to your car, but any single modification wich is not stated in the original documentation of your car, need to be aproved by governement, and this means a lot of money and also it's very dificult because most of the times they don't allow you to do change anything.

European Cars need to go to the governement garage, for testing every few years, so people who tuned their cars, usually need to remove everyhing before to go to the goverment garage and be able to pass, when they get the OK, they reinstall everything.

There are a edge in the wheelhouse. Knock the edge in or get bigger springbowls. I think the SLK has 9 mm springbowls original and you can get 17 mm from a Mercedes dealer.
