SLK Colors - Can Someone Identify this Color?

Hi,

Hope this is not an odd question, but I found the photo below of a blue SLK
that I really like. I know its a European color, but I don't know which one.
Can someone identify? I found the photo on a German Mercedes Club site,
but "Ich spreche Deutsch nicht. " ( I don't speak German

Also, has anyone heard of getting a US Spec SLK in a European color?
I'm willing to pay extra for the European color.

Thanks,

Mike

I think that it is just plain old Orion Blue, available in the USA on an SLK from 2002 or so to 2004 -- I don't think that it was available in 2005.

Orion

I think that is correct, but Mercedes still offered it in Europe as I have seen it on some of the cars picked up for factory delivery by British posters after it was no longer available in the U.S. Beverage comes to mind though I'm not sure if she posts on this forum or just on MBNZ.org. and with their recent server change I'm not sure if old photos survived should you try to do a search.

In Europe maybe, but it's called Orion Blue here in the states, discontinued in 2005 Still available in Asia, Canada, and Europe. Still can be purchased with a special order form here in the states, will cost you an extra grand, most dealers don't do it b/c of the hassle and or doesn't know about it, like BMW, you can order any color previously offered in earlier models. It's well worth it just for exclusivity. Orion blue with blue two tone interior, that's something you don't see everyday, probably less than a handful of that combo in the states. Damn, I'm starting to regret not ordering that color, the more I look at it the more I want to sell my car and get this one. But if I do, I might just go with a SLK55, but my love for manual's has not dissipate and can't imagine driving an auto yet. Here's a few more pics.

Here's a pic of the two tone blue interior, although the wood trim doesn't match, but some dark carbon fiber would be sexy.

With dark wood trim doesn't look to bad.

Orion blue and black two tone exterior.

Did a search and found what you are looking for, Florp claim to be the only 2006 Orion Blue SLK55 and I believe him, it looks beautiful. here's the link if you want to read the whole thread, My Obligatory "It's Here" Post

Otherwise here's your answer,

Japisblau = orion blue here in America, paint code 345, but the more I look at it, the more it looks like caspian blue, a dark blue, orion is lighter.

Here's the link for paint codes.

SLK Colors in Europe

In reply to WolfWolf:

Are these pictures of cars in two different colors of blue. The first
two look much lighter than the last couple. Or, is that the light.

Thanks,

Mike

thanks rubensans for clearing that up, we don't get japisblau here in the states, I've read that orion blue = japisblau, maybe japisblau is caspian blue here in the states, I don't know. We have capri blue and caspian blue, orion blue is discontinued.

Capri blue

Caspian blue
