SLK 350 Transmission Help

Hi!

I bought 2005 SLK-350 (48K miles) CPO last week from Benz dealer. I have a concern about Transmission. When the car goes below 20 miles speed (no gas/ no brake) the transmission engages and try to stop the car. A grinding noise also comes at the same time.

My other Japanese car rolls over smoothley and eventually comes to a stop in the similar situation. This is my first Benz + Sports car and I want to make sure that this car does not have any transmission or other issue that I need to worry about.

BTW, the car runs great otherwise and accelarates fine both in automatioc and manual mode, the issue is only at slow speed.

Thanks for your response.

BK.

BK64, Welcome to the group. I have a 2005 SLK 350 and my car doesn't do what you described. Sounds like a trip to the dealer may be necessary.

Cong. for the new car.

what mode are you on? S or C when you have that kind of problem?
If you are on the S mode, it will hold the gear which is kind of simulating manual feeling.

48K and still a CPO which is very interesting.

SLK 350

Thanks for your reply. I did go to dealer and first time they said it's normal. I was not convinced and I asked him to check the car again which they are doing as we speak. BTW, The issue is persistence in both C/S mode .

Well, dealer decided to put CPO based on car's condition and it works for me Additional 1 year + upto 100K warranty). Only thing, I need to get this issue resolved. The service advisor is asking me to give him excellent rating for the services and in turn he would take care of all problems. Lets see what is he doing this time.

Cheers..
