2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK unveiled
I'm glad they're back to making it look like a mini SL instead of an SLR wannabe...

he 2012 Mercedes SLK has been unveiled a little early thanks to this, possibly leaked, promotional video.
While our French is a little rusty, the creepy clip shows the car in its full SLS AMG-inspired glory. Notable design highlights include front quarter vents, adaptive headlights (with LED daytime running lights), an integrated trunk-lid spoiler and LED taillights. An optional sports package adds a revised front fascia (with LED fog lights), AMG wheels, and cross-drilled brakes.
Inside, the cabin also echoes the SLS with a prominent center console and round air vents. Other highlights include a dash mounted clock (possibly power developable - as odd as that sounds), sun-reflecting leather seats, and an innovative draft guard system which is integrated into the roll bars. On the options list, we can expect Airscarf, a Harman Kardon audio system, COMAND Online (with internet access) and an electrochromic glass roof dubbed Magic Sky Control.
Under the hood, we can expect "new powerful" engines that deliver "high driving pleasure combined leading efficiency." Details are limited, but all the engines will feature a standard start/stop system and an available 7-Gtronic PLUS transmission.
Considering the sheer volume of leaks and teasers, look for a possible introduction at January's North American International Auto Show.
Thanks for tip the Martynas!

And I don't have to get used to it cause I'm keeping my 2006 SLK55 AMG!

If it's about height, then what will Porsche do about this?

The front end on that '12 SLK is clunky and boring. I loved the R171 the first time I saw one. Enjoyed having an '06 SLK 350 for three years.

Every time a car has been changed, you will always have some who like it, and some who hate it. You simply cant please everyone. So to that I say... watch the sales numbers. I like the new SLK, and I bet the sales numbers will agree.
As for the size of the grill.. that is a new direction MB is taking. The grills will be more upright and larger. This will follow though the New SL, S, ML, GL, B, and anything else MB is planning one releasing.

I will say that if the AMG version of this looks better and they drop the 6.2 liter V8 into it then I could live with the dowdy front end.

New SLK looks much better.
I would consider new SLK just for the look of it.
I would NOT consider current SLK because of the look, even in SICK 55 AMG version.
Old SLK looks nothing like SLR besides having 2 doors and 4 wheels.
