Veloce Performance , For Smart 4-2

Back in the last week of March,09 My Girl friend & I went car shopping. She is a little frail with lots of Rhumatroid Arthritis, I had to lift her into the Truck & Help her get down to the ground, And getting in & out of Her work car, Honda Civic was a real task! We ended up with a Smart 4-2. It was of her chose.Totally. I finally drove it and said Patty , we have to do something her. This thing is a pooch!!! The lag between gear shifts was not exceptable too me. Patty seem to have it down, and was much smoother.
I did some looking on ECU performance Flash's. There was several Tuners out there offering an ECU performance update / flash's.

I chose Veloce . Why? Dino , Offered, removal & Install Instructions. Always answered E-mails & returned Phone calls, Great Communications Dino!!
I took the car to the local Chassis Dyno Shop. McDonald Performance in Stuart , FL.. The car pulled 63 RWHP. I then removed the ECU ( Real easy , even for a novice) And sent it off to Dino.
When I got it back , I installed it back into the car. I turned the car over to Patty, ( I never drive the car 1st) She did the road test!! And came back with a Big Smile Then I drove it about a week later. I got to say. The car responded to throttle input , Shift lag was Minumized. & motor pulled through the RPM Band much faster. The Butt dyno saya Yeah. I 'll be posting the dyno sheets soon. I just have to get back McDonalds Performance.
Dino!! I'm very Pleased Regards ___PTEngineering

Smart Dyno

Hello All: I got to the dyno shop , Got the car all strapped down. Then Bang Crash Boom. The sky fell out. Raining like crazy. 100% Humidity. & 84 Degree F air temp. All the oxygen was locked up. The SAE correction factor was @ .99. We called it a day. UGH
Attached is some pictures of the dyno platform and one of the axle tube covers.
I can tell you this . even in this crappie weather , the 999 CC motor gained 6 rw Foot Lbs of Torque from 3800 RPM to 5300 RPM. Thats 9.5% gain where you do most of your driving. This car stills feels peppier and shifts a lot better than the Stock Tune .I promise I do another Dyno when the weather drys out a bit. Cheers _PTEngineering

Does the tune affect the lag between gear changes?

Shifting Lag

Hello Tbone. It does minumize the lag. About 80% improvement. I found now ,that if I just lift my foot slightly at mid rpms , let it shift ,then reapply the throttle it shifts smoothly. Now at WOT with the shift paddles , it shifts pretty darn quick , without throttle lift. Cheers _PTEngineering

What are your experiences with the lag when driving in auto mode and not lifting off the gas during shifts?

Smart 4 2 shifting experence

Hi: I got to believe that there are 2 things ( issues) that stick out. #1 is transmission Shifting Lag & #2 is the weak engine. Shifting in Auto mode with The Veloce Tune is 80% better . And the engine performance increase is a matter of personal experence. It Feels dramaticly better in the seat of the pants. Even with 9.5% increase of rear wheel torque over the stock Factory OEM Tune. The Veloce tune helped both Issues. Dino is easy to deal with & returns e-mails & Phone calls. He also offer a 100% satisfaction or return your money policy. I have or should I say My Girl friend ,has no reason to go back to the OEM factory Tune
Cheers _PTEngineering
