NICE POST!!
I'm on it. I don't even care if it helps much. It is cheap, easy, and great in theory!! Anyone try the ceramic spray on the plastic parts first?? I may add that in! I also got a set of stockings and whip for myself

My neighbor just bought a 06 e350. When I looked in the engine bay I noticed the intakes are covered in a thermo black wrap (weave) all the way to the filter. I wonder why MB did not use this on the 55.
I'll try to post some pics later.

Not sure if the hoses have just been made more flexible vs. heat shielded.

Brinhing this thread back to life as I am about to have my wrapped. Two questions.
1) can i do this myslef 2) If I have a carbon fiber airbox, do you think it also needs to be wrapped. Doesn't carbon fiber transmit less heat. |

Once again...Bringing..trying to bring this thread back to life..
I am going to get my air intake tubes thermal covered this weekend. Question...IF I have a carbon fiber air box, do I need to get it covered as well. Does the carbon fiber insulate the box from heat? Thanks |

See if the info in this post helps.
http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=145853 My personal view is that wrapping the airboxes is a waste of time and money. |

Do you still have this view after reading OZE55's test.. Saber, How about you? Did you really see a noticeable difference from insulating your air intake? Quote:
I have Renntech headers that are not coated? My air intake tubes must be blazing hot when I am running my car.. I think thermo coating might work. We will see as I plan to dyno test before and after..If anything, I think it is the airbox that is the most important to insulate. |
