Oh, man, I just this minute logged on and searched for brake+squeal because my E63's (2700 miles) rear brakes have been squealing embarrasingly for a few weeks.

Now, do I want to shlep out to NJ to get this done or wait for my 1-year service? Choices, Choices. Thanks much for the post.

There is no need to return to the dealer where you purchased, you can simply bring the vehicle to your closest dealer out on the island with DTB info in hand.

Thanks for this note! Do you know if this is just for 2007's?

I have a 2006 E55 and the brakes squeak really bad sometimes.

Thanks!

TK

any one having problems with getting this fixed under warranty? At my 3000 mile check up, i told the service advisor about the brake squeal and then at the end they said: We had the brakes checked and they are perfectly normal, this is how high performance brakes sound

No problem at all. Print-out the DTB and provide it to your service advisor.

My God, it's about time MB finally admitted that brake squeal of this level is not normal. You guys cannot imagine the ***** I had to go through with MB to replace my rotors and pads in order to stop the school bus squeal. On my 04 500 coupe they had to replace one side of the fronts twice within a week as the new rotor was out of spec which caused a slight vibration and the squeal. I recently had the squeal with my 07 997S and Porsche stepped up to the plate and replaced my rotors and pads but they are very reluctant to do it and also like to say it's normal. Unfortunately, with all the cost cutting going on these days the quality control has suffered in many areas.

Look at the TSB thread at the top. For 2004 E55 you have the following:

P-42_46-32B NOV 04 Brakes - Whistling Noise When Pressing Brake Pedal
P-42_46-43 JUN 04 Brakes - Squeaking Noise On Application

I have a 2005 and will bring mine in also as it just started to squeak slighly and its a CPO car i just got a short time ago!

I picked up my 07 E63 from the dealer a few weeks ago and brakes started to squeak (on lite application), called the SA Manager and they gave me the standard line - high performance brakes squeak. Then I found this thread and forwarded it to him, he said the parts and memo related to US cars only, does anyone know if he is feeding me another line? FYI, I am in Canada and I bought the car from a Canadian dealer. He said he did speak with shop foreman who has a few ideas from MB Canada on how to deal with the issue. Car is going in tomorrow, I will wait and see.

DTB is valid for MB Canada for the 211.077 (E63), 219.377 (CLS63), and 230.472/479 (SL55 & 65). If you want a copy to support your claim PM your email address.

Good luck. I picked up my E in January and the brakes were fine for the first 1k miles, then they started squeaking like crazy.

Had the front and rear pads replaced per the DTB during the E's initial service. Everything has been perfect for the last 500 miles...hope it stays this way.

Brakes Update

Finally had my car in for servicing. I was advised that my front brakes had the new pads in, but the back did not. Had the car for a few days, no noise yet, I will keep everyone updated.

i had my brakes swapped out back in september 07 as a courtesy. however, im reading on this post that the DTB info got revised in december 2007? Does that mean i am qualified to get my brakes replaced? im tired of this annoying squeal that did not get fixed from my first swap out. not to mention the run around i get from each dealer that says AMG brakes are meant to squeal...

I had all of mine done about one month ago and there hasn't been any squal since then. I'm told by my dealer if it's still happening they will definitely replace them again.

My 2007 E63 has 20,000 miles on it. It has brake squeal noise since I got it, would they still able to replace the rotor and brake pads?
