Dealer Refused 10c fan mod.
I dropped my car off last week to have the fuel recall work done and I asked them to adjust the suction fan to come on earlier via Star DAS, of course the rookie SA was clueless about this but said he would ask one of the techs about it. I also asked if they would lower the car via Star. I get a call yesterday and my SA tells me no one there has ever heard of this, and they couldn't find any bulletins from MB that had any information on it. I explained what it was, and told them where to find it (ME Unit), he responded with "if you can find some information on it send it to me and I'll see what I can do". Has anyone here had this same problem and were you able to find any information from MB on it? Does MB even have anything written about this 10c fan adjustment? Does anyone have the name of a dealership that knows about this so my SA can call him. Thanking you in advance for your help.
Also he told me that they couldn't lower the car because it would wear the bags out prematurely.

Here's the screen they need to get to. I would print it and take it to them. Good tech should know exactly where it is in star. Don't forget, everyone calls it the -10 mod, but the tech actually wants to set it to +10. Meaning he hits F5 (see below) to have the unit turn on 10 degrees sooner. If he sets it to -10c, the unit will turn on 10 degrees later BAD BAD.
Even VRUS will admit he messed up when he named it years ago.

The -10 mod was just the name I gave to it. On the screen in Star it doesnt have a sign in front of the number. It just showed 10. The reason I say -10 is because the fans turn on SOONER as in a lower temperature. So, if the fans used to turn on at 100, now doing the mod, they will turn on at 90.

Is the 10C mod really necessary if we have an aftermarket heat exchanger/Johnson pump or have split loop cooling?

You need to fire your dealer, They sound inept and incompetent, huge red flag here. You gave them a chance, provided the information, they failed.
Find a dealer that has a SA worthy and knowledgeable enough to get the work done on your car, to your satisfaction.
And fire off a letter to MBUSA in NJ tell them about the clueless SA in a way that is not a complaint, but a "how low are the requirements they establish for hiring a SA".

[QUOTE=I Like Soup;2727827]Tell him it is your *** car and to do it (unless, of course, it is still in warranty).
Car is under warranty until 2010 - I did call another dealer today and he has never heard of this either. He did tell me to bring it in and he would hook it up to Star for an hour and he would see what he could do. I explained to him in detail about it over the phone which must have sparked his interest enough for him to ask me to bring it in. I feel like I'm the only AMG owner in the state when I talk to these guys, it's like they've never heard of a AMG.

OK , the 10c will make the fan turn on sooner but, once the dealer flash your ECU your 10c will be gone . So you should get the larger Johnson pump C090 or CM90 and PTE 160stat then you good to go .

Jakpro1, thanks for the screen and response to this thread. During lunchtime, I printed out your response and screen, showed it to my shop and they did the -10c mod (or +10). Thanks!!!!

It sucks because my SA was cool with me changing out the HE for a larger one, now I can't do anything to the car. He told me it was due to the way his replacement the day he was out wrote up the work order. Who wants a stock AMG? Not me, now wish I didn't buy an extended warranty, I'd go ahead and mod the sh*t out of it, I may do it anyway of I decide to keep the thing.
