Thoughts on Porsche Panamera Turbo?

I was cruising in my B200 5-speed loaner today, since my car is at the stealers due to a manifold leak and saw a Panamera event. 5 of them driving behind each other... I got a chance to talk to the guy in the Turbo. He floored it for me and it sounded ok but not as good as my CLS63 without the resonators............. and it was kinda on the ugly side.... Anyway, those are something like $125,000 right? Would you consider that car or not at all?

Opinions? Inputs?

Porsche shouold stick to sport cars. The panamera is uglier than the X6BMW. The Cayenne isnt much better..Just a more plush Toureg.
If I am spending that much for a car it is going to have a 3 pointed star in front.

Definitely butt. Even Porsche knows it. I received a mini-brochure on it in the mail, and there are no pictures of this armadillo's a$$ anywhere in the brochure.

I threw it away. I should have burned it.

LMAO!!!

They really struck-out on this one IMO...

Sales will give us a better idea - I just hope I don't get stuck behind one in traffic on the way home in Chicago...

Makes me dizzy thinking about it..

saw one in person, sat in it. Rather get a 6 month old Maserati Quattroporte or coupe. Or CLS 63. Thing is nasty ugly. Back looks like a stretched Crossfire.

You don't live in Chicago, you live in Indy, so you probably won't have to ever worry about seeing one again.

Just kidding.

Spend a few minutes in one the other day at Rusnak. Wow, this is one of those rare moments that the car is even uglier in person vs pics.
Have owned 10+ Porsches I can honestly say, I would almost be embarrassed to drive one.

For a start its slower than the W212 E63.... Search for the article I posted on the E63 test UK Car mag did on it and how the competition fared too. The E63 won the sport sedan category.

I don't think Benz has ever had a competing sedan thats faster than the comparable Porsche. Complete Porsche own goal if you ask me. And I love Porsche, but to me there is only one Porsche (ok maybe 2) that are pure... The Turbo and the GT3. The rest are toys.

I don't know what Porsche were thinking here. Anyhow VW have already axed the Panamera line at the end of its product cycle - there won't be another one - thankfully.

O and did I mention its very ugly? Seen one up close and man I dunno what the guys were on when they passed that design.

Why don't Porsche come up with another incarnation of the Carrera GT? Now that was a machine in all respects.

I just read in Automobile Mag that the new head of Porsche has already decided to kill the Panamera. It was already too far into production, or it would've never been released. Who knows how long it will last. He says full life-cycle, but I doubt it. He also said the Touareg, Q7, and Cayenne will be phased out. They're thinking of using the Panamera as a reskinned S7/RS7 or even a new Porsche coupe, which would be much better than an ugly 4 door sedan.

They look like a bad copy of a CLS to me with a hatch back rear.

I was at Palm beach raceway over the weekend and got to see the Porsche's first hand, true they are ugly but i witnessed them run with 3 E92 M3 with 4 passengers in the Porsche. Those cars are plenty fast i couldn't believe my eyes!! Porsche's were none turbo models.

One would have to go fast in the car as it surely does not impress standing still.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that it is ugly! LOL, I expected a few people to say that they like it! As for being awesome on the track, I have no doubt that it is! After all, its a Porsche, hell, even the Cayenne GTS is fast on track...

Haven't seen any in person yet but I think it's ugly. The interior looks pretty nice and fancy though.

Porsche should stick to the 911, releasing the Cayenne, Panamera, etc. just give people reason to doubt such an iconic brand.

It is polarizing that's for sure. I hate to say it but like a fungus, it's growing on me Wouldn't be my everyday car but my wife may be looking for something else. Might not be bad for her?

The interior is very nice and you can't see the outside of the car while driving so who knows, it might work?

Road and Track (i think just tested). Here's some of their comments:

0-60 3.3 seconds
1/4 mile - 11.7

Highs: Scary fast, Bentley-esque interior, as visceral as an abattior
Lows: Bizarre shape, poor rearward view, base price of 133K
The Verdict: More 911 turbo than a luxury sedan, but hey, is that a bad thing?
