Will be getting a 2004 E55 in a about 2 weeks

Getting a great deal on it with only 25K miles and one owner. I'd like to start with some HP mods but checking around they all seem to start around $4K. Now I'm new to MB so this may just be the way it goes but is there anything cheaper initially for a HP mod than $4K?

Can't wait to get the car!

Thanks very much.

Alex

Congrats -- be prepared to smile a lot.. 4k is too much -- stage 1 kits are less than 3gs ... not too mention the sales -- also, owners saleing their old parts and upgrading. you should start a new thread asking about <4k hp mods -- you will get more advice

Tb= $1500 new Pulley & tune = $2300 Headers = $1500 ... simple mods -- only rough estimates for new parts -- of course some brands are $$$$$ and some are $$

That 4k will go pretty quick when you start adding in install fees. Shorty header install will run you probably close to $400-500, pulley install $400, and TB install $400-500. Install really starts to take it's toll on a budget unless you do the work yourself.

Yes - they get to you. but i got a few quotes and were $2-300 for headers --- $2-300 for pulley.. those only take 2-3 hours to install-- from what they quoted me

Allow up to 5000 and you'll be able to get to stg2 (tune, pulleys+belts, short headers, filters) plus a new Johnson intercooler pump. Do the -10 degree SDS mod too. Also, figure about 150-200 bucks for a baseline dyno and post-upgrade dyno. Add another 50-200 for some drag days and then post your dyno plots and time slips .

When you're ready to spend another couple thousand, do the 82mm throttle body and phenolyc spacers together to save on installation fees for the pair.

If you're in a hot region, you'll also want to look into a larger heat exchanger and an in-trunk coolant reservoir at some point with all of the above mods.

You need to read carefully -- he did not state, he wanted o spend 4k on mods -- he is looking for some P mods that are not that pricey.

$400 for a pulley install is just insane , its a quick and simple job if you have the tools on had. but Beware dont do it your self it cost me a lot of money since I tried doing it my self.
