PERFORMANCE CHIP. Please advise.

Just bought performance chip for E55. Does it really improve HP and gas mileage? Any negatives long term? THANKS. To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

So you bought it first and now are asking questions? Try the search function for most of your info.

But you will need to clarify:

What kind of chip (ECU)
What mods do you have besides the ECU?

Yeah. Bought first. Only $80.
It's SLR Motorsports performance chip. I'm supposed to attach to IAT. Never added anything to my car before. Will have my mechanic instal.
Wanted to see if I get any performance and mileage improvements. But wanted advice on long term effects from people who actually installed before. Because of course the seller is going to say it works great.

I think these are a joke but I'm not sure, and have never heard of anyone installing them. What is it supposed to do?

80 bucks?? Dont install it, just get your money back if you can and then start over.

Zero chance of any power gains or mileage gains.

From their FAQ page:

Quote:
Q: My vehicle is Turbo/Supercharged will the chip work?
A: No, we build our chips strictly for engines not equipped with a turbo or supercharger. We can build a custom chip for specific turbo/supercharged vehicles, please contact us for more info. Our custom chips for Turbo/Supercharged vehicles are built for specific timing, boost and other modifications.

Dude, it's a scam. Return that hunk of crap and get a proper ECU tune if you're looking for gains.

I would love to know where they expect you to plug this thing into.

Be fair, make it a "double your money back" guarantee.

Edit: Hey occarfan, if you tell people that you made another purchase like this one, you will be asked to sell your car and buy a used Kia.

Please don't do this to yourself. If you want a real tune go with a recommended tuner, such as Eurocharged.

This is my favorite description of the product:

*Less and fewer oil changes due to a more efficient tune*

Guys on this topic very close to pulling the trigger on Let Tune Stage 1 but had a couple of silly "newbie" questions:

1. If my 2004 E55 is Stock Except for upgraded intercooler pump (Got the Johnson one) and K&N Air Filters what kind of HP and TQ gains could I expect from this tune?
2. Where the hell is the ECU located in the car and is it easy to pull out and ship?
3. What is the expected turn around time as this is my daily driver and need it to get to work

I did leave a VM with Eurocharged on this but haven't heard back yet.

Thanks!

Alex

You cant go wrong with an LET tune, I sent my ecu on Mon and had it back on Wed. Ecu removal was very easy with my car it's on the passenger side I believe the E55's are on the drivers side.

• HELPS your vehicle to pass emissions or SMOG testing
• Less and fewer oil changes due to a more efficient tune
• Prolongs your engine life due to a more efficient tune
• More power for towing
So how exactly does it affect oil changes and prolong engine life while making more power? It sounds like a miracle chip and will even help your E55 tow that new boat your just bought.
